Rolling Stones to Add Second Hyde Park Show?
The Rolling Stones have sold out their show at London's Hyde Park a mere three minutes after tickets went on sale. And, as HenneMusic reports, the band is set to announce a second show at the venue later this week. Tickets to the show started at £95, with VIP tickets going for £300. While some fans expressed concerns that the VIP tickets would restrict views to the stage, AEG Live promoter Rob Hallett has insisted that this is not the case, as NME notes: "The band wanted the regular ticket-holders to be right at the front of the stage staring at the whites of their eyes, not 200 yards away," he said. "The people who have coughed up for hospitality packages will get looked after in a way they have never known before. But when the doors open, if you can run faster than the next guy, it will be like any other general admission gig. You will get down front." The show will be the first time that the band has performed at Hyde Park since their legendary free show there in 1969 which occurred two days after the death of guitarist Brian Jones. Keith Richards has noted that this current Hyde Park show will be a celebration of Brian: "Not going to turn this into the funeral, but any more than that, I think it's a celebration," said Richards. "I think that it's a celebration for everybody really, for Brian, for everybody that was there and hopefully for loads of people that were not there the first time round. I'm really looking forward to it, it's an exciting piece of news when I got the news that we were going to play the park again."
