Scars On Broadway Cancels Tour

Scars On Broadway, the side-project started by System Of A Down members Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan, have announced that they will be cancelling their upcoming North American tour as well as an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. There are currently no plans to reschedule the performances.

The tour, which was scheduled to begin on October 19, was cancelled after Malakian revealed in a statement that "his heart wasn’t into touring" with Scars On Broadway.

Due to these events, rumors are again swirling of a System Of A Down reunion. System Of A Down went on hiatus in May of 2006 so that band members could take a break from System and pursue other projects. Band members have said numerous times that the band is not broken up, just on a break.

^I'm sorry, but please shut the hell up. Daron has just as much right to sing as Serj does. Also, just because Scars isn't doing anything right now, doesn't mean that means System comes back. Serj is the one that wanted to go solo, not Daron.

I've read many of your postings and I owe it to all of you to respond:

I understand all of your frustration and anger, and I never meant to let any of you down. Your support for Scars has been so important to me and the band. I would never cancel a tour unless I had real reasons and personal things that require my undivided attention. The music of Scars will live on, but now is a time when aspects of my life need to be tended to. I hope all of you can understand.

I really wanted to like SoB - I quite liked Daron's singing on the last two SOAD albums. Unfortunately, the music was a concentrated version of all the things that weren't that good with SOAD (i.e. on the punk, rather than metal, side of things)

Not a great shame if they split - a great shame if SOAD don't release anything further though...

I advise you to do some research if you really care about the band. (System of a Down). The more you read both Serj's and Scars' interviews, the more you'll realize just what happened.

well ive met serj daron and john at thier solo shows and i asked darren what his plans were going to be he said hes gonna push this album and then when i mentioned sysem he said they would probs do that again and seemed really enthusiastic about it. thats from the man himself so.. lol not much else to say. cars serj and system all rock.

Well one thing you've gotta know is, Daron did NOT write all the lyrics for System. I've heard people saying that a lot, but I'm not sure where they get it from. He said he wrote the actually music/melody/structure for most of the songs. (this is backed up by the album notes) He was never really given any recognition for it by the fans. People just assumed Serj did everything, when in reality, he was just the main lyricist for the first 3 albums.

Now onto the hiatus. I'm not sure if I'm able to post the link to every interview they've had, but I'll sum it up, and feel free to look these things up.

When they first went on hiatus, Serj had expressed that he's wanted to go solo for years (even before Mez/Hyp). Before and after the release of his album, ETD, he's been hammering not only his somewhat "extremist" political beliefs, but his philosophical beliefs as well. Serj is the one who expressed his wanting to go solo to the band, and thus decided to part for awhile. You can find, in some Scars interview (more specifically the one in Amsterdam) Daron expressing how hard it for him to move on without System, for him he says, it was like changing his last name. Also, in the German "Rock Sound" magazine, he says he had no ambition to go solo because a project called "Daron Malakian" was just ridiculous.

Because of the privacy of the band, they've never given the specific reason as to why they went their separate ways other than "Creative Difference and wanting to try new things". Lately, Daron has been getting irritated by people asking him "When System is coming back together" because he didn't want System to break in the first place and people are acting like he wanted it to happen.

The true reason for the hiatus is far more admirable than the false reason people keep spewing out.

^I also forgot to mention another important detail.

If you remember back to 2001, after the 9/11, Serj wrote an essay called "Understanding Oil" that was posted, WITHOUT CONSENT OF THE BAND, on their official website. Immediately, System got huge flack for it, being labeled as terrorists. It was then later taken down.

When Serj first started with his Elect the Dead campaign, that essay was immediately put up on his site. It's very realistic to think that his views, are not necessarily the views shared by all the band members. In these pivotal times, one would want to express their views on the world and all that's going on without restraint.

He couldn't do that in System, it wouldn't have been right. I respect him for that.

If people didnt download their music they would realize that the credit was given in the booklet of the cd's. If you have the booklet for the Toxicity Cd, you would know that the credits is given on the page with the lyrics. There you will find who wrote lyrics and music.

And by the way I think Scars on Broadway is a way better album then the last 2 from soad. I liekd the first 2 albums, Hyp/Mez just had some not so good shit on it aswell. SoB is a great record, where Daron is clearly influenced by the beatles. I love it.

The only way Daron can excuse this is if SOAD get back together, because in my opinion, hes cancelling an entire tour because he couldn't bothered doing it. Sure he may have enough money now that he doesn't need to play shows, but more than anything else hes showing a huge lack of respect for the fans. personally im not a Scars fan, but i do love SOAD, and i think Daron needs to get his ego under control!

Because I actually follow the band and read the interviews. If you go to the SOADfans forums, you'll find a collection of most of their interviews there. Along with all my sources. If you want the truth, it's easy to find. A lot of people are making up things they believe to be true and giving this information to people who aren't aware. They tell it to people, and the cycle continues.

If you actually gave a damn about the band and actually READ the interviews, you would know what was going on. You said Serj was clean, but anyone who follows them knows that's not true. Only John seems to be drug free.

And to your reunion question, I have no doubt in my mind they'll be a reunion. I just don't think it'll be anytime soon, as ALL of them keep telling people.

If you really cared, you would know, Serj wanted to go Solo, Daron just had to make music, he had a band name, he had material, Scars on Broadway was reborn

Also, for mr staind, there is no date that System is coming back, they say they come back, but it could be next year of over 5 years, they don't know
