Seether Looks For 'Beauty' On Tour

artist: seether date: 11/07/2007 category: upcoming tours

South African rock group Seether heads out on the road this week to build steam behind the its new studio release, "Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces."

The alt-rockers, now Los Angeles-based, kick things off 11/06 in Tupelo, MS, the first of seven dates with alt-metal outfit Three Days Grace on hand for opening chores. The 29-city trek stretches to the middle of December and a Dec. 15 co-headlining show in suburban Dallas with Avenged Sevenfold. All dates are included below.

"Finding Beauty," which hit stores Oct. 23, is Seether's follow-up to 2005's "Karma and Effect." The band worked with well-known rock producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Daughtry) on the set.

"I love working with Howard Benson," Seether frontman Shaun Morgan said in the band's online biography. "He's amazing at what he does. It's the first time in my life that I allowed myself to trust a producer. In the past, we've had some that seemed to have an ulterior motive, whereas with Howard he'd tell me what his motive was at the outset. He's an honest guy from Philadelphia.

"When he takes the raw material away and he comes back with it and it's polished, I almost always think he's done an amazing job. Of course the songs start with me. But it's very much teamwork. And he can bring a song to a different place."

What a great band, the only thing is they are capitilizing on the "grunge" popularity. It will be scary when they try to break out of that.

I like Seether, but hate people who try to associate them with avenged seven fold, or 3 days grace and all those other shitty bands.

Go castrate a donkey and wave the testicles in front of Seether. The band will then proceed to suck donkey balls.

Eh, heavy guitar riffs, bad lyrics, cliched vocals and melodies. They dial up the fuzz on this album a lot, and the guitar tones just sound way too digitized... and the singer sings through all these filters to hide the fact that his voice isn't unique at all, it sounds just like all the cock-rock bands out there.

"Your verbal defecation I can't wash away despite myself." Rolling Stone's worst lyric of the year.

wow three days grace is opening for them? I thought it would be the other way around...

And I was sadly disappointed with the new album. Karma and Effect was their best one, although Disclaimer was solid as well. They've become too poppy on the new one and Shaun's lyrics are beginning to make less sense as time goes on. Whatever happen to songs with lyrics like "Fine Again" That song made perfect sense and sounded awesome. Shaun tries too damn hard to rhyme every damn time on the new one.

Xak :
funny how they say seether is alt-rock, yet three days grace is alt-metal...despite seether being unquestionably heavier than 3dg.

no new england dates...that sucks.

If their first date on this tour is 11/06, why did I see them two days ago on 11/04?

Anyway...they're a pretty good band live. The new album is okay.

I'm going to the OKC show this Friday, and it's being advertised as "Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin with Seether".

It's true. They are. They're just based in LA now.

I'll just have to wait for them to come to England.

2 days ago i seen red, seether, breaking benjamin, and 3 days grace i dont care what you say it was an amazing show. Seether sung broken without amy lee instead used adam of three days grace pretty flippin awesome. Adam played rooster acoustic and they also played hey man nice shot. It was an amazing show and seether is an awesome band live go see if you can!

Ewalker21 :
I have to agree, Seether puts on a pretty good live show. I like the fact that Shaun Morgan doesn't have to 'Ashley Simpson' his vocals, what you hear on the disc is pretty damn close to the live show. Granted their act was a little predictable, it sure put Breaking Benjamin to shame. Morgan also did a pretty good job of singing the Deftones cover Change while Ben Burnley from Breaking Benjamin decided to take a water break and walk around the floor throwing bottles of water everywhere. For those that aren't sold on the new album yet should pull their heads out of their asses and really listen to the content. I think you will find it has a little something for everyone.
