I didn't really like their last album that much, I just couldn't get into it. But their older stuff is excellent, so I'll check out their new album when it hits.

their last was what, in 2002? since neon ballrom their music has been really interesting. 'diorama' i enjoyed greatly, but hopefully this one's got some rockier songs you can move to.
but i'm impressed how far this band come musically over the past 10+ years. who knew.

this is so great to hear, and i totally agree that they are very underated. i have grown up listening to their music which is nothing short of brillant, ive seen their evolution from what they once were to what they have become and although some might say their previous work is alot better then what they have more recently created, i disagree saying they have simply grown as a band, and have followed another direction. They now hold a better ablitiy to express themselves through their music. So great to hear their progress, and i can wait till homebake.

Good news! But please MORE ROCK, back to roots!!!! think it's dreams, i saw the videos from studio- it's like 'Diorama' but i love 'Freak Show'!

i doubt they'll ever go back to the grunge/heavy stuff. and i'm glad. freak show and frogstomp were PERFECT for them back when they were Teenagers, and they remain great teen angst albums. a lot of high schoolers now are getting into those albums.
but the band is in their mid-20s now and if you've heard "diorama", you couldn't imagine them going back to the music they made as teens.
i checked out some bootlegs of new songs and it seems the new sound is more funky & melodic. should be interesting.

Great News. I like every silverchair album but i would prefer if there was more heavier songs on this album.

Dudes, Silverchair rocks, but i agree with all of you that say that their older stuff is their better work. I liked a few songs from Diorama, but it's just not the same! I'm lookin forward to their upcoming album titled "Modern Young"

The new album is actually "Young Modern" , and Straight Liones, the first single is good, but it is alot more poppy and different.
