Slipknot Unleashes Late Summer Tour

Currently in the middle of a European festival run, Slipknot has revealed a late-summer trek of the western US behind last year's "All Hope Is Gone."

The masked metal-heads will begin the stateside outing Aug. 22 in Seattle, working their way through 11 cities before the final tour stop Sept. 5 in Milwaukee. Anthrax and The Black Dahlia Murder will provide opening support.

The Iowa-based nu-metal outfit released "All Hope Is Gone," the band's fourth studio album, last August. The effort, which followed 2004's "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)," marked the group's first No. 1 debut on The Billboard 200.

"We are an extreme band with extreme vision and we do it the way we want it," percussionist Shawn Crahan, a.k.a. Clown, said in recent interview with Croatian news website Monitor.hr. "It's great to be No. 1 because people in the music industry need to give you credit for hard work."

Slipknot is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the band, which got its start in 1999 with its self-titled debut. The group returned to the road in late January after a four-year hiatus, during which time lead singer Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Roots joined forces in alt-metal act Stone Sour, and drummer Joey Jordison played with Korn and Ministry.

I saw Anthrax with Dan Nelson back in Jaunuary and i thought they kicked ass. He's no Joey or John, but he's still good.

Anthrax shouldn't headline. They have done nothing for a few years now and are probably the weakest of the Big 4 Thrash bands. Slipknot are huge and have toured relativly hard to become huge. You're pretty much seeing metallica all over again but way more ****ed up. Times change people. Accept it and move on.

I saw them with Trivium and Coheed opening for them, in Ontario, California. It was one of the best concerts I've ever been too. I was at least 30 feet away from the stage, in the seats. It only cost me $45, and it was very well worth it.

Last time I saw Slipknot they had sold out a 15000 seat arena.. When I last saw Anthrax in the same city they didn't sell out a 1000 seat venue...As much as this gets on my tits I can see why Slipknot are headlining.

i saw them on this tour as well, but in phoenix. it was awesome, i was on the floor right next to the stage. unbelievable! except for coheed and cambria, they were extremely disappointing, and a huge letdown after trivium's amazing set. i wish this tour was coming to arizona again... oh well.

I like both bands. It is definatley weird that Anthrax has to open. Either way it should be a great bill, I just hope that all the mallcore kids will be able to accept the awesomeness of 'Thrax. Met Frank and Dan from Anthrax and ''Clown'' from Slipknot, all very nice gentlemen.

im as surprised as everyone else who's commented that slipknot should be opening for anthrax not vice versa. however, i would be willing the guarantee that anthrax will get almost the same playing time as slipknot due to their metal dynasty. i wouldnt so much say that anthrax is opening for slipknot so much as just playing before them

Yeah, but Slipknot wishes as the entire band together has as much talent as Anthrax. Scott Ian ffs. I don't even need to explain. If it wasn't for Charlie on drums, Joey wouldn't be playing half of what he plays (I.E. gravity blast beats), and Spitz and the many bassists anthrax had are awesome. And Joey Belladonna & John Bush... don't even get me started.

Slipknot wouldn't be were they are if it wasn't for bands like Anthrax.

Slipknot are not the band they used to be anymore at all,(headlining everywhere, clothing labels, each member has different bands) well I just get that feeling, they're music is good yes but a lot of it is simple and they are one of the most over rated bands out there at the moment. I mean when they released their first album In Flames were supporting them! They had released 3 albums at this time. Now don't go and start aruguements or anything like that, i'm putting my opinion out there too see who agrees.

i don't know why everyone's debating the slots so much. haha. it's all about drawing a crowd, obviously. slipknot will keep everyone there for the whole show. although they're not anywhere near being a band i listen to in my free time, i'd still see them live. they've got energy!

I think it would be hard to out do Slipknot. I'm not bad mouthing Antrax but it would be kind of hard to have a better show when the band with 9 guy just went on and permormed at 100%. Slayer said the same thing and I see where they are coming from. If you ever seen Slipknot live, I can see why it's hard to out do them.
