Sparta Co-Headline With Straylight Run

Indie rockers Sparta and Straylight Run have put together a co-headlining tour of the US with special guest Lovedrug. The trek kicks off May 28 in Tempe, AZ, and hits clubs and theaters across the US, ending June 25 in Norfolk, VA.

Texas-bred Sparta is currently on a European tour through the end of this month. The musicians -- three of which are former members of At the Drive-In -- are supporting their latest album, "Threes," which hit the streets in October.

Straylight Run, an offshoot of Taking Back Sunday, followed its self-titled 2004 debut with the six-song EP "Prepare to be Wrong" in 2005. The band's upcoming set, "The Needles, The Space," is due June 19, according to Straylight Run's MySpace page.

Ohio-based Lovedrug came out with its sophomore album, "Everything Starts Where It Ends," last month. The rockers will complete a tour with Plain White T's as well as a headlining stint before taking off with Sparta and Straylight Run.

Both bands aren't nearly as good as the bands they came from. ATD-I is amazing, and TBS (from when John was in it) was a way better too (though new TBS sucks).

I'd pay damn good money to see a reformed ATDI

man, that would rule. i doubt Omar could be torn away from his twenty minute "solos" while Cedric rambles in their experimental band. don't get me wrong, i like Mars Volta and Sparta but ATDI breaking up was a severe blow to real music.

I had tix to them but never went. The drive, bad car, etc... eh, I still kick myself in the head.

A reformed ATDI would be the best thing since Dismemberment Plan coming back together.

i think them getting back to do a tour would be awesome.
now if they made a new album, tis a different story.
they would destroy their legacy as so predicted by Omar (i think it was him; he said something to the effect that they would just continue making the same album over and over if they stayed together). Relationship of Command is unbeatable.
sure their other albums are beyond awesome, but they peak with RoC.
i think that because of this, people always complain about how the break-up of ATD-I sucks, when (imo) it was the best move they could have made. at least they went out in a bang instead of burning out.
TMV is pretty damn good, but idk if they are in the same league as ATD-I. Sparta ain't too bad either, just that they maintained their "emo" roots a little too much.
its funny because you can hear the differences of ATD-I in both bands. they are the exact split of their former band. i know it sounds stupid and very obvious, but i have rarely heard bands that maintain such a strange integrity.
