According to a news post on the band's website, the Stone Temple Pilots are postponing their December and January tour dates until next year. The decision was made to give the band time to finish their upcoming record which is said to be released early Spring 2010.
The dates canceled are the rest of the band's trip across the United States. The Stone Temple Pilots have a few more dates left in Canada with their November 24th show in Halifax, Nova Scotia being their last. As reported by Rolling Stone last month, the group has composed around 18 tracks for the new album which will be produced by Don Was.
Since singer
Scott Weiland already promised more tour dates before, the cancellation has come as a surprise. According to
Blabbermouth.net, the plan to release the new record is said to have been comprimised by a legal dispute between
Atlantic Records and
Weiland and drummer
Eric Kretz. Some reports indicate
Weiland and
Kretz are looking for a new deal but the label states they are still bound by their original contract.
