drummer Trivett Wingo
has quit the band with immediate effect, admitting: I just can't do this any more.
The Texan four-piece yesterday announced they'd cancelled their upcoming European tour in support of acclaimed third album Warp Riders
. Now it's been revealed that Wingo finds life on the road too demanding and stressful.
It's the first lineup change for the retro metal band which formed in 2003, and has toured with Metallica
, Lamb Of God
Wingo says: After nearly seven years and some of the most amazing adventures of my lifetime, I have arrived at a place where I am physically and emotionally unable to continue.
If I could go any further I would I love the music and JD Cronise, Kyle Shutt and Bryan Richie are people whom I deeply respect. But I just can't do this any more.
The remaining members say in a statement: We really wish it wasn't but it's true. We wish Trivett nothing by the best and it's with heavy hearts we bid him farewell.
He is a phenomenal musician and has been an integral part of the band's success. He helps to lay the foundation that we'll continue to build upon. We wouldn't be where we are without him.
We wish he could continue, but we understand the life of a touring musician is not for everyone. The show must go on though we'll be back on the road as soon as humanly possible.
The Sword are working on rescheduling their cancelled dates and will replace Wingo in the near future.
