Thom Yorke's Supergroup To Tour In April

With Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and producer Nigel Godrich at his side, Thom Yorke and his new supergroup plan to tour the US throughout April. The group will perform in different cities before their April 18th gig at Coachella 2010.

The five-city tour will the be the first string of shows for the supergroup since their secret performance in Los Angeles last Fall.

"We had too much fun to just leave it there," said Yorke.

Recently named Atoms For Peace, the quintet also includes percussionist Mauro Refosco and drummer Joey Waronker.

Although new material has not been announced by Yorke, the band's setlist from their last gig involved a lot of tracks from the Radiohead frontman's solo release The Eraser.

Supporting Atoms For Peace will be the band Flying Lotus. They will be performing with Yorke and the supergroup at the following US dates.

04/14 - Oakland, California (Fox Theatre)
04/15 - Oakland, California (Fox Theatre)

I hope Thom brings it to his native, Glastonbury would be nice

Tom York's melancholy + funky slap bass?

I'm intrigued

Josh Klinghoffer. I guess its the best we can ask for after John. It will never be the same, but rather someone who was highly influenced by him, than some guitarist with a random style. After all John was highly influenced by Hillel. This could be a better era of RHCP. I just dont get why John would leave his favorite band (according to scar tissue) twice. Oh well. As long as hes happy.

Josh Klinghoffer. He's already toured with them as a second guitarist and is taking over now that John is leaving,

Flea can do a lot more than just slap, his bass lines on RHCP slow slower tunes are really inventive. Thom isn't the kind of guy to enlist Flea just for the name recognition

Don't get why supergroups are supergroups, it's just another group the musicians play with.

I saw videos of the original Los Angeles show and liked it quite a lot, I thought the live version of "The Eraser" kicked the studio version's ass.

Isn't a supergroup supposed to be made up of legends? Traveling Wilburys is still the only one I've seen.

I am so tired of this "supergroup" bullshit. Bands are just bands. Some work and some don't. Yorke and Flea aren't working together to make headlines, they're doing it because they enjoy playing music with one another.

Johnny Cash
Waylon Jennings
Willie Nelson
Kris Kristofferson

probably a supergroup id say

I'd argue no one since Kurt Cobain has a more emotionally volatile and influential voice than Thom Yorke. Flea is also one of the 5 best known bassists in rock history. I'd say that qualifies as a supergroup

Hey man... Jeff Buckley had a mint voice.

Looking forward to this. At first I thought it was bit weird, because their styles sort of clash, but Flea is an incredibly versatile player so it should good.

To this day one hot minute is my favorite rhcp album. I dont care what all the haters say its by far the most interesting jaz/funk/prog/ work they have done thats for sure. Everyone said they would be through when Hillel died but they got Frusciante and produced some really great albums. John left and I think Dave did a fine job filling in and brought something new to the table. The peppers will be fine without john they will bounce back as they always have. People forget that Chad, Flea, and Anthony are all great musicians.
