30 Seconds To Mars An Odd Taste Of Chaos? |

30 Seconds To Mars is touring with the likes of The Used, Senses Fail, Chiodos, Saosin, and Aiden for the Taste Of Chaos, and stylistically they seem like the odd band out to many observers. The group arguably might be the most commercially successful of the bunch, which for some tours could stick another wedge between them and their tour mates.
The band won the respect of Saosin, who says Jared is working hard at the venues way before the band hits stage. Senses Fail singer Buddy was asked about their relationship with bands on the tour and how Jared Leto and crew are fitting in despite seemingly being the most stylistically different band on the tour.

"Good. I mean it's fine. I mean they are. They're just....They're a little different. They come from a different place, and they're older too. Some of them are almost forty years old, thirty-seven, thirty-five, and we're all like twelve years old. I'm twenty-three, so I guess they would seem like they're the odd band out, but it's not really like that. But yeah, I'm really close with Aiden, and basically all the bands. We've made friends with everyone. That's not a problem for us on tour."
In previous years, fans who came early stayed for every band, and we asked Buddy if that was the case on this tour.

"Yeah, I think so. Some people leave after 30 Seconds To Mars, but that's because you know they've sold...you know they're a platinum band. So you've got a lot of people just coming to see them, and they don't know any of the other bands, so they'll leave after them, well, maybe not a lot of people."
He said that a majority stick around for all the bands, on the Rockstar Taste Of Chaos 2007. The Rockstar Taste Of Chaos closes shop April 6 in Calgary, Alberta in Canada. Senses Fail return to Europe to play festival and club shows starting later this month in Cologne, Berlin, London, Paris, Amsterdam and other cities. The band is touring in support of their latest album on Vagrant Records, Still Searching. For all the latest check out sensesfail.com.

: from what it seems like to me is that all these other bands are basically talking crap behind their back, but are afraid to say what they really feel because they're afraid of the repercussions. They just think their all better bands and musicians than 30STM. I see it.

See he was getting ready to say their sell outs, but he caught himself real quick.
I didnt like 30STM until I saw them with Chevelle and Taproot a while ago, their live show changed my mind. But I'm not too pumped about A Beautiful Lie, I just couldnt get into the majority of the CD. But they are NOT THAT BIG! They've only had one friggin song on MTV, so I dont see how these bands can say their so big...POSTED: 04/03/2007 - 08:44 pm / quote |

Nah, I think it may look like that at first glance but I think it's more likely that he meant that they sold alot more albums than the other bands, thus going platinum. I don't see how anybody could say 30STM could sell out. I thought they've always played the same kind music.POSTED: 04/03/2007 - 08:53 pm / quote |

: 30 seconds to mars makes me vomit. they're terrible. commercial. and the dude is an actor. not to mention, just the fact that they suck that much and have mars in their name is offensive because The Mars Volta has mars in their name. hahahaha.
seriously though. plus Senses Fail are bad. not just stylistically but they can't play/sing worth a shit.
so why waste the money to see them? it's trendy i guess. the tour was way cooler when it had As I Lay Dying and Thrice.POSTED: 04/03/2007 - 09:43 pm / quote |

I agree way cooler, and i think that underoath was playing in this tour a lot. Ive started to listen to stuff from Act of Depression, the title song is amazing.
Honestly this genre of music is gone way downhill, but then again i bet their is a tonne of kickass hardcore emo bands that cut out the whining for the awesomeness. THe only emo band that is good IMO is Circa Survive, and ive only heard 2 of their songs.
All my friends are actually at this concert rite now, but im way cooler cuz i went to see Black Sabbath and Megadeth and Down
well thats my opinion POSTED: 04/03/2007 - 10:00 pm / quote |

As I Lay dying is a dying breed of metal that is all pull offs, hammer ons, and chugs. it all sounds the same after awhile. at least all of 30stm songs don't sound exactly like each of the others... and what does acting have anything to do with being a good band? if anything, it would give you an advantage to your live shows. Thrice however is good. I agree with you there.POSTED: 04/03/2007 - 10:20 pm / quote |

AILD is not metal... and lol at how ironic it is that u insult AILD for sounding the same (which they do) then praise 30stm.POSTED: 04/04/2007 - 12:05 am / quote |

: Hardcore's not my thing (Got that off my chest)
As for 30 seconds,, they are very stylistically different from the other bands. i don't like the music either, but you can't call them sellouts because the music is the same(genrewise). To call them sell outs makes as much sense as calling Brittney Spears a sellout.
AILD isn't metal it is metalcore, a heavier version of hardcore with more distortion and less clean vocals(in the style of Story of the Year that is). While it isn't metal, it is a close cousin, like chimps and humans.POSTED: 04/04/2007 - 01:00 am / quote |
Solipsism
: 30 seconds to Mars are NOTHING like Senses Fail, The Used, Chiodos... the only similar element is pop, but it ends there. 30 serconds to Mars are doing for emo/post-hardcore/punk music what Good Charlotte and Simple Plan did to punk and pop-punk. It is watered down filth that will never deserve a spot on the Taste of Chaos, it isn't chaotic for one! The aforementioned bands also tried atleast at the beginning of their careers to stray away from the mainstream... 30 seconds to Mars didn'
t do that. Oh no, the used Jared (singer) and his status to shoot a video immediately and inject them into the mainstream. Fucking shit. Do not argue with me, I will win.POSTED: 04/04/2007 - 05:53 am / quote |

: F.Y.I.--30 STM has been around for 10 years and they are just now becoming mainstream!!! As for "using Jared and his status" they did exactly the opposite! When the band was first formed, they refused to play at venues that used Jared's name to pull in a crowd. Get your facts straight, people!!! And trust me, this is not an argument...it's a battle...a "Battle of One" POSTED: 05/17/2007 - 05:39 pm / quote |
