3 Doors Down's latest album debuted at Number One, dropped to Number Three, and now sits at Number Nine on the Billboard 200 album chart, yet the band has yet to hit the Gold industry mark. Gold is achieved by an artist selling 500,000 copies of an album, and platinum is reached by selling one million copies as certified the Recording Industry Association of America. 3 Doors Down is not alone in this phenomenon as the malaise affects all artists.
With the music landscape getting worse for artists on the album sales level, it might be hardest for the band to reach what singer Brad Arnold sees as his goals.
3 Doors Down On Measuring Success
"I would consider this album a success if we could top the last one and always become a bigger and better band. If we can get bigger and better we would have succeeded I believe."
Arnold is confident that all the people surrounding the album and the tour won't drop the ball when it comes to getting the most out of 3 Doors Down's work in this down music sales.

"I'm not even considering the fact of failing because I know it's going to do good (sic). We've got a good team here at Universal. We've got a good staff on our tour, a good crew who work their butts off, and we've got the greatest fans on earth. Like I said before, I know this record is going to do good, and we're going to have some fun with it."
The band said that the most important thing to them is their fans, and the biggest failure to them would be to not deliver something that would connect on a human level. While multi-platinum releases were once the norm, the only 2008 release to go double platinum is 95/08 Exitos by Enrique Iglesias. The only other 2008 release to go platinum is Jack Johnson's Sleep Through The Static.
