3 Doors Down Rock Out Of The Box

artist: 3 doors down date: 03/28/2008 category: video news

3 Doors Down's self-titled album will be out May 27, and the band is enjoying phenomenal success with the lead track, "It's Not My Time." The single is currently at Number 10 on the Alternative Rock chart, Number Three on the Rock chart, and Number Four on the Active Rock chart.

Brad Arnold was asked why they chose "It's Not My Time" as the first single from the new album.

Video clip :

3 Doors Down On Strong First Single

"We decided that 'It's Not My Time' should be the first single for a variety of reasons. I think for one, we did want to come out of the box strong, and we wanted a rock song to be out first. But we also wanted a song that could go over to Top 40 as well. Every single that we've ever put out first on a record has been a song that we wrote on a tour of a prior record. I think we do that as a subconscious security blanket. But nonetheless we did come out of the box a little stronger this time, and we're just happy to have a good rock song out there right now."

He also talked about the new album, and kicking it off with the hard rock song "Train."

3 Doors Down On Train Kicking Off Album

"'Train' was just the logical choice put it the first of the record because it just slams. I told somebody a couple of days ago a show, I said, 'You know what? When you finally get the record, when you get it put it in your car and just go and crank it all the way up before you push play.' That's what I wanted to do. That song, it really starts off, and it just kicks in. You know you're about to listen to a rock record when you listen to that song."

3 Doors Down has sold over 13 million albums worldwide since their inception in the late '90s. The band will be kicking off the Indy Race Car season on March 29th at the Homestead Miami Speedway, and on May 17th Dale Jr. will drive his third 3 Doors Down car in NASCAR's All Star Race at Lowes Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina.

I liked the first to albums a bit, but 17 Days is generic as can be.

Seventeen Days is a great album giving them more of a metal edge, I'm excited to see what they can do.

Man, Away From The Sun is a great one. The third album though, it's decent, but only has a few really good tracks.

Yeah, there albums after that weren't very good. I remember listening to The Better Life, it's actually not a bad album.

I don't like how the reason they chose the song is that it would do well on the charts but that really doesn't matter I guess.

they always have good singles.

13 Million albums, wow, thats impressive. I too liked The Better Life, solid rock album, one good song after another. Though i've found all of their other material since hows sounded very similiar.

Stop that first comment nonsense!

I'm more of a metal guy but I like 3 Doors Down, they have some great songs. They got a little too mushymushy a couple of years ago, I hope they redeem themselves.

Hopefully Train is nearly as good as "By My Side" and, well most of "The Better Life" album.

meh. they're just kind of bland in my opinion. all of their songs that i've heard were just generic, radio-frendly rock

I've seen these guys live twice, and I have to say, for a generic radio rock band, they put on a pretty kick ass rock show.

Didn't like Better Life at all...they keep getting better. Lots of interesting textures that save them from a pretty formulaic structure. They're not the best ever, but it's good stuff.
