Cradle Of Filth Released Godspeed

Cradle Of Filth released their new effort, Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder, on Tuesday October 28, and it's a concept album based on the life of serial killer Gilles De Rais.

Cradle Of Filth mastermind Dani Filth said that in many ways it was one of the most engaging albums he's ever worked on.

"I don't know it was quite an easy - well I don't want to say easy, nothing is ever easy for us - but everything was very much planned because it's a concept album as well. Everything has to fit into its category. We have to have a beginning and an end, and the artwork has to correlate to that. For once in our lives we were actually really professional about this. I remember being in the studio for three months, and I want out to the pub maybe once...and that was just to get a meal. It wasn't even to have fun."

Cradle Of Filth will return with its Black Metal to North America for a tour in support of the album starting January 15 at Starland Ballroom in New Jersey. Opening will be Satyricon and Septic Flesh.

This album kicks ass. Not as good as Cruelty or Midian but still ****ing amazing. I love Cradle, i want them to come tour the UK

I was a little surprised at how good the album sounded. I'm probably going to be seeing them in either Dallas or Houston, but it's a few hours away either way...

That's because he's the only original member, CoF became Dani + Friends long ago.

I wonder if the bit labeling them "Black Metal" was put in there just to start a flame war, seems superfluous and is sure to irritate "true" black metal fans who have nothing better to do than debate who's in what genre.
