Daath Says Ozzfest Is Not Really Free And For Diehards

artist: daath date: 08/03/2007 category: video news

As Ozzfest in 2007 begins to make it's way around the U.S., early results show the festival is experiencing an extreme influx of fans who came out for a free festival. With ALL tickets to Ozzfest being free many wondered if the music, which has long been about Quality Rock n Roll, would suffer. But with Ozzfest gearing the lineup more towards underground extreme metal, the lineup features performances by Ozzy, Static X, Lamb of God and Hatebreed along with Daath, Behemoth, Nile, Ankla, 3 Inches of Blood, Circus Diablo, The Showdown and Chthonic. So far one of the bands that are turning heads and making a name for themselves on Ozzfest 2007 is the extremely tight six piece from Atlanta, Daath.

Video clip :

We caught up with Eyal Levi of Daath just before a recent appearance at Ozzfest to find out the bands thoughts on being apart of this ground breaking festival for the first time.

Daath Discuss Record Breaking Ozzfest Attendance

"People don't tend to value things that are free, but obviously they value this because there is record attendance. We've seen the amount of people that have been showing up for these, it's unbelievable. I think the hoops that people had to jump through in order to get the tickets was basically the equivalent of paying money for one. People had to spend four hours or five hours online and who would do that unless they really wanted to show up. So I think the people are showing up because they actually want to be here and there's a whole load of people."

Daath are currently touring in support of their Road Runner Records debut 'The Hinderers' and the band will be performing a plethora of off dates in cities surrounding their performances on Ozzfest. Due to unfortunate circumstances, Mondo Generator had to drop off of the remaining dates of Ozzfest 2007. However, DevilDriver will now be performing on the 2nd Stage in place. DevilDriver will join the tour at in Dallas and will perform on all remaining dates of Ozzfest 2007 that extend until Sound Advice Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, FL on August, 30th.

Wow, what a poorly written headline. Made me think it was about hidden charges at the venues or something and that the show was like "soft" and catered to people who'd never seen one before.

Daath shouldn't be talking about how it's for diehards, they didn't even show up to the Kansas City show, so we had another break during that time. We also had a 45 minute break between stages, because DevilDriver didn't start until the next show.

Also, 3 Inches Of Blood only got to play 3 songs before they had to quit because of the rain.

Ozzy practically left the stage for 20 minutes and had Zach Wylde just solo the entire time, but he isn't in the best of health, so I don't have any problem with that. His doctor tried to get him to cancel the show, even. No complaints there, I guess - just a little bad luck.

I know it's free and all, but that shit should have been taken care of a little more.

I Love How It Says Ozzfest Is About Quality Rock N Roll When A Few Years Ago Linkin Park Limp Bizkit and Crazy Town Were on Ozzfest

That is a horrible headline! Who ever wrote the headline didn't read the article.

I was so dissapointed when I missed the begining of Daaths set at Ozzfest.

Water bottles and pop were 4 dollars! That's were they get you. And 20 bucks to park.

I was almost pissed when i read that headline, cuz it took me all night to get a ticket to ozzfest. and im looking forward to it mostly to see lamb of god for the 3rd time. and see zakk shred a little, i really hope is not free next year cuz the "freefest" seemed cool at first but it was actually a terrible idea, they should have just lowered the price to like $20. just enough for someone to go see who enjoys metal, and too much for someone who doesn't.

as far as Daath not playing in the KC show, it is because their van broke down and they missed a chunk of shows, not just yours. They only got back on once devildriver joined because devildriver let them ride with them.
