Ex-Evanescence Members Want Their Grammy Glory

Former Evanescence member John LeCompt made his way to the Grammy Awards for Best Hard Rock Performance for "Sweet Sacrifice," off the band's latest CD The Open Door. LeCompt and Rocky Gray were fired last year, with vocalist Amy Lee continuing with guitarist Terry Balsamo and a few replacement musicians.

It wasn't too long ago that Amy's initial songwriter and bandmate Ben Moody didn't see eye-to-eye and split. He may have started the trend, showing up to get his trophies at the 46th Annual Grammy Awards where Evanescence captured two. Moody talked about his recollection of that move and LeCompt's mindset this year.

"I didn't - Honestly? - I just thought I didn't give a s--t. I started the band when I was fourteen years old, worked very hard on that record, we were nominated, I went, we won, I took it home and bid her f--kin' adieu. He might be a little more... He's in the same situation, but honestly I can't speak for him."

LeCompt didn't get to enjoy the same feeling as Moody as Evanescence lost out to Foo Fighters. Moody has since gone on to be a very successful songwriter. He has penned songs for Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson, one of which was the monster hit "Because Of You," which many said felt like an Evanescence song.

As soon as I heard that John and Rocky had been fired from the band, I immediately got rid of both my Evanescence CD's. If Amy Lee is the only original member of the band left, I don't want anything to do with Evanescence anymore.

I was a big fan of "Fallen" and some unrealeased tracks I had heard but they seemed to have gone downhill from there. Amy seems to be trying to take over the bad and she needs to realize that even if her voice does stand out in the music she has nothing if she can't hold onto the other members of the band

'Because of you' wasn't written by Ben Moody. If I'm correct, a country singer wrote that song. Unless they're crediting him with writing the instrumental bits.

Evanescence are no longer Evanescence. Amy would be best off calling it her solo project. I mean Jonathan Davis is doing Korn songs on his solo tour. It's not like she'd lose anymore fans than she already has.

The Open Door is good in my opinion, however her throwing Rocky and John out just really pissed me off. And then when I read the letter that John wrote on his website concerning the whole thing, it pretty much opened my eyes to how Amy Lee works. I used to be able to love the band's music but now I really can't make a connection to it at all. This is just stupidity, and I hardly see why she even continues the band at all.

i really think evanescense should be scrapped and just call it her solo project, like all these guys get so sick of her probably cause they get no say whatsoever in the music. she controls the band, shes the only orignal member, shes going too mainstream,its a solo project and its getting worse

To bad that Amy Lee can't seem to get along with her chief songwriters, Moody the best of them and the songs suffer for it, hence the downturn in their popularity.

It sounds as though it's too late, but I say that Lee and Moody need to bury the hatchet and move forward, making excellent songs and putting what was once a relevent band back on top.

I'm just sayin'...
