Foo Fighters Special Night Capped With 2 Grammy Wins

The Foo Fighters capped off an incredible night at The 2008 Grammy Awards with a historic performance followed by 2 Grammy Awards. The Foos took home Grammy Awards for Best Hard Rock Performance for their song 'The Pretender' and a Grammy for Best Rock Album for 'Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace,' but it was their performance on the outdoor stage with an orchestra and guest conductor John Paul Jones that will undoubtedly live on forever as legendary Grammy performance. Jones, the multi instrumental musician from Led Zeppelin helped the Foo Fighters by conducting the orchestra, which consisted of You Tube's My Grammy Moment finalists and winner Ann Marie Calhoun, who got to perform a short violin solo with the band as well.

In The Foo Fighters acceptance speech lead vocalist Dave Grohl thanked his daughter violet for giving him the inspiration to write his latest hit album 'Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace.'

The Foo Fighters will hit the road on the 2008 leg of their 'Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace' Tour with dates in North America beginning Feb 18th in Worchester, Massachusetts and extending until March 30th in Vancouver, Canada. The band will then depart for shows in Japan, Australia, New Zealand before performing in Europe through June.

This is interesting, when I mentioned the Foos deserving a Grammy when the Slayer article was up, I totally got blasted. But now all the comments are in favor of the Foos. This place is so territorial and biased...but whatever, they finally have the article up, even though it's a smidge late.

And yeah, Pat Smear has been with them ever since they did their Acoustic tour. They kept a bigger line up, similar to the one they had on their Skin & Bones DVD.

I really like Dave and what he has done, as a writer, guitar player and drummer. Outstanding work, didn't like the live performance on the grammy's though, contrived and blocked. I liked Dave's suit and relaxed manner for the acceptance speech. Rock on Dave

yep, he was there when i saw them back in '07 too. im glad hes there, he should be a member of the band again.

IMO, the Foos wouldve been a good choice for Album of the Year. Why did Herbie Hancock win it, and not the Foos or anyone else for that matter? Either way, the Foos got 2 much-deserved Grammys, which is awesome.

The album was a typical foo fighters album; hit or miss. A couple great the songs, the rest were only ok.

Pat Smear is back with the foo fighters? That's awesome. It's nice to see him back in the spotlight again. I knew he was with Nirvana towards the end and with the Foo's on the second album. He's a great guy and his stuff with the Germs is pretty kickass too.

Winehouse is terrible..

And I am a Slayer fan but used to listen to the Foo Fighters a lot in high school and think they definately deserved the grammy forr best rock album; it was by far the best of the year. Perfeormance though? Meh.. they are good band though.

And that thing with the people winning a solo with the foo fighters.. that girl was a tool - the guy Fitzgerald should have won.
