Godsmack have begun recording their upcoming new album, which will be the bands follow up to 2006's "IV" which debuted at #1 on The Billboard Top 200 Chart. For the Godsmack's next album Sully Erna and the band have tapped into their more aggressive side and although they did release "Good Times, Bad Times 10 Years Of Godsmack" to celebrate their 10th Anniversary, this will be their first album of new material since 2006.
We caught up with
Sully Erna of
Godsmack to get his thoughts on the direction the new album is taking.
"It's gonna be really heavy. I mean it's very aggressive. I'm not really sure, it's very premature right now. Right now we just finished one track for The Cruefest this summer. But as far as the whole record goes, I think it's going to be a lot more in your face. I don't think there's going to be any voodoo's or serenity's on this one. We decided to go balls out!"
Godsmack will look to release their new album in 2010. The band will also be touring this Summer on Motley Crue's CrueFest 2 tour, which will also include Theory Of A Deadman, Drowning Pool and Charm City Devils. Tour dates kick off July 19th in Camden, NJ and extend until August 21st in Virginia Beach, Va.
