Green Day To Go Number One, Which Is Gravy According To Billie Joe

Despite Green Day's new album "21st Century Breakdown" was released on Friday, May 15, and the short week won't stop it from debuting at Number One on the Billboard 200 albums. The band and label Reprise have shipped nearly 650,000 units to retailers, with most, but not all, expected to go by the time the chart tabulation stops in the middle of next week.

In a previous interview, Billie Joe Armstrong, flanked by Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt, says it's all gravy at this point when it comes to album sales.

"When we first started playing, we always wanted to just have the ability to play music for the rest of our lives and write songs for the rest of our lives. So, I don't know. I think we've kind of gone beyond our expectations."

Green Day's first single "Know Your Enemy" continues to be the Number One Modern Rock track in the land. They'll embark on a tour starting July 3rd in Seattle, Washington.

Am I the only one that's noticed they've had a new story about this Album every day for a week and a half? I haven't really liked the two singles I've heard, but I can understand how others might, but either way, enough is enough.

those may be stupid but the other Lyrics are ok:

the insurgency will rise
when the blood's been sacrificed
don't be blinded by the lies
in your eyes

most of the lyrics are shocking and repetitive (but there are a few exceptions.
the best songs on the album seem to be the ones which least follow the 'rock opera' style of the album.
east jesus nowhere, horseshoes and handgrenades, murder city and christian's inferno seem to be the best with the static age,21 guns and know your enemy being o.k but pretty average songs
there certainly massive sound similarities with american idiot-and once or twice nimrod. i know lyrically, cos of their different lives now they can't go back to the lyrical style of the older albums-but i wish they would keep the simplistic and cool sound of the songs of the dookie era.

also-the emo thing is a bit stupid cos their music doesn't really sound too much like it but the image of them and the album is all that style so i think that's kinda wierd too.
