Guitar Hero: Aerosmith Stays Away From Abuse

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, which was released earlier this month, allows fans to play the songs and live the musical life of Aerosmith, and the band said they're fine with that. The motto Sex, Drugs, and Rock And Roll used to be the mantra of Rock in the '70s, and especially Aerosmith. The band indulged, loved the ladies, and of course played rock and roll.

It's widely known that the band's break-up in the late '70s was due to substance abuse, and we asked bassist Tom Hamilton and drummer Joey Kramer about leaving that out of the game.

[Hamilton] "Well I don't think... It's pointed out, but..." [Kramer] "It's a positive game." [Hamilton] "Because, right, those moments of the game are highlights. One of the things that makes those moments so big for us that they go in the game is we know what the contrast is with some of the other things we've been through."

The band did say that overcoming those problems to reform could be a positive and that part is reflected in the game, parents can sleep at night that the sex part of the rock and roll mantra will also not be in the game, catered for all ages.

Aerosmith is great. And, although, I do believe they deserve recognition like the folks who make GH have given them, I still think its rather silly to focus an entire game around one band.

Well, its sort of like the guitar hero 80s game. There's such few songs (although more than the 80s, actually) that it can get boring pretty easily, especially if you can't play on all levels. Me, I can play on expert and this is the first of all the GH games that I have beat on Expert. I got 5s on everything in hard and beat expert within the first week. I'm a HUGE Aerosmith fan and the game is pretty good and interesting, but, to answer your question, sorta, if you're Not an Aerosmith fan, it will probably get boring/annoying way faster.

Even though they're not willing to admit it, the reason they didn't put substance abuse in the game was they wanted a T rating by the ESRB and the equivalent from the other rating companies. Any gamer knows that just about every game that has blatant substance abuse in it rarely ever gets below an M.

i just dont get it. this is a website for real guitar players, not ones that have guitars with 5 buttons. Guitar Hero is just like sex...why simulate it when you can just do the real thing? i totally agree with this guy...start a Real Aerosmith instead!! ya know...if you read in interviews with REAL guitar Heros like Slash, Zakk Wylde, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, etc. they all say that "this album changed my life" or "this guitar player made me wanna pick up the instrument" and instead of kids actually finding real guitar heros and trying to be a real guitar player and get real satisfaction of learning Eruption or writing their own material, they skip all that and then they just play a stupid piece of plastic with 5 buttons and think they're actually doing something that real guitar players are impressed by. let me tell you something kiddies, playing songs on a real guitar is way more impressive and way more fun than playing a stupid plastic toy with 5 buttons

From what i gather, there is no substitution for real guitar, but at least people are gaining knowledge and experience from some of the greatest pieces of music ever. They arent just listening to the shit they play on the rap flooded stations, they are hearing real art. If guitar hero is the best you can do, at least its classic rock. Haha what? I doubt you have listened to Velvet Revolver at all, because I can't think of one riff that sounds anything similar to any Guns n Roses songs/riffs.

First of all, the game was only made for the band's music, not their lifestyle. Second of all, not very many people actually believe they're playing guitar when they're playing Guitar Hero. Alot of the people who say that are the same people who have never played the game anyway. I play both guitar and GH pretty well, both for the same reason. For fun. Besides, some little kids may think they're actually playing guitar (the games rated T anyway, but whats it matter?), but most kids know they're not actually playing guitar, but believe if they did learn guitar, they'd be great at it. Then there's everyone else who play the game purely for fun and to listen to the music. People like you need to stop accusing the devil of putting himself in Guitar Hero and just ignore the game completely.

Oh, by the way, this needs to be thrown into the "Why is this news?" pile. First of all, its GUITAR HERO. Second of all, there wasn't ever going to be sex and drugs in GUITAR HERO, so why give us a small paragraph of an interview that says they wanted to leave that out? Like i said, the game was about Aerosmith's music and the band playing, not their lifestyle. Besides, they havent even really included drugs into GTA, which was considered a really graphic game. Well, they have, but not really taking the drugs, just picking up a floating pill. Anyway, why would Guitar Hero ruin it's image by including not only that, but sex, in the game?
