John Mayer Cites Continuum Success On Trio

John Mayer's new album Continuum is currently at Number 6, falling from its debut at Number 2 three weeks ago on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album is tops on the iTunes album chart.

Mayer recently told us that he couldn't have made this record without forming and recording music as the John Mayer Trio last year.

"I would not have this record if I didn't have the Trio. If I didn't go out of the trio I would still be making my record, and the Trio allowed me to calculate who I am by moving very, very heavily to one area. So I could mine there bring it back into the pop zone and make it that much more deep."

John Mayer is currently touring the west coast opening up for Sheryl Crow. Mayer's latest single is "Waiting On The World To Change."

i usually dont like his solo stuff but the new single is pretty good. i might check the new album out.

Vultures is the only song on teh album I think, that the trio actually wrote.

Very unfortunate first impression because I hate vultures.

Gravity too.

But the songs that he wrote with the trio are beside the point. I definitely heard the impact the Trio made on his music when i listened to Continuum.
