Linkin Park made their way to New York City's Times Square on one of their off days for Projekt Revolution on Thursday, July 24. Mike Shinoda and Phoenix accepted a $25,000 check from Major League Baseball Authentic Collection and Champs Sports to benefit their Music For Relief charity.
The band used the opportunity to enlighten those covering about the organizations they're working with.

[Phoenix] "I think today for me really opens it full circle in that we're trying to extend our efforts outside of the music community including sports, including Major League Baseball, including Champs really with the goal of overcoming natural disasters all over the world. In conjunction with that we've also been attempting to make a difference with the environment. The Environment has a direct effect on what happens with natural disasters so we've been become more and more involved in that as well." [Shinoda] "The change from just reactionary efforts for Music For Relief came a couple of years ago when we realized that just acting on the reactionary end wasn't going to be ideal for us, and then we started thinking, 'What is really causing these natural disasters? What's going on that's creating this mess that everybody has to clean up?' That's when we started to get involved in various green efforts, various climate crises issues."
