Linkin Park: Shinoda's Update On Studio, Swag, And Style

Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda stopped by the Grammy Style studio recently and he gave us an update on the new album and talked about the studio. The Style Studio took place right before the Grammys and Kate Nobelius helped the stars get ready for the big night.

Shinoda talked about what he liked about the style studio besides getting to keep some of the swag.

"I come through... I think I've come through every year for the last few years. It's cool. It's also... I always run into friends that I haven't seen in a while every time I come to these things. I just caught Black Thought (from The Roots) and some friends that work for some of the companies. It's always good to hang out for a second."

Shinoda also said that the band is being really particular with their forthcoming album, and he described the latest progress and when they'll finish.

"Um, before summer. We are... We had narrowed it down to about sixteen to eighteen songs, and we are in the mixing stage right now. We're still trying to tighten a few things up, musically, and we're mixing some songs."

Linkin Park must get done by late May because they have a slate of European shows including a May 30 headline show at Bercy Stadium in France. They also have festival appearances Rock IM Ring, Rock AM Park, Download Festival, and Novarock on their itinerary.

Im starting to wonder what this next album could possibly sound like, I hope it is different b/c I love linkin park... and I thought Meteora was great, but sounded too much like Hybrid theory in some places... cant wait for the finished product guys

I really hope that's right. LP is probablly my all time favorite band--I'll stick by them no matter what--but I'd like to see some different stuff...

I seriously cannot wait for this album.. I have the feeling that is gonna be huge.. Yes, it's been a long time since Meteora but i just keep in mind that "lo bueno se hace esperar" (good things take time i guess). I really love this band, they're my favorite along with other one. I think we should expect somethind different, but you can still say that it's LP, just like chester or mike said some time ago, i don't remember. The latest song, QWERTY, is a proof of that, I really like it, and I think that I will get some of that on the album (QWERTY will not be in it). To me that song sounded a lil vintage on the chorus, it was defitenely different, but chester screams were brilliant and mike's verses are simply great, like always. I'm really looking forward to this and I couldn't be more excited about it.
