Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington debuted his new side-band, Dead Before Sunrise, at club Tattoo in Arizona on Saturday night, May 10. Bennington owns the club with his friend, and hes done so for about 13 years. Sean Dowdell is the co-owner of the venue which was formed in 1995 when the two were in the Linkin Park precursor band Grey Daze.
We caught up with Chester Bennington the night before at the Musicians Assistance Program benefit, the MAP benefit, and he talked his solo bands first gig.
Chester Bennington On Dead By Sunrise First Gig
"This will be the first time we've performed. We're going to do a few songs, and we're really excited about it. Some of the guys in my band are also performing in a band called Julien-K right before they play with Death By Sunrise. They are formally of Orgy."
He talked about how the Dead By Sunrise is going.
Chester Bennington On Solo Group Dead By Sunrise
"They're really good guys. It's a lot of fun. We try to work around Linkin Park's schedule and Julien-K's schedule, so that's kind of interesting. It works out really well and the music is good."
Bennington added that the show is a salute to those who have supported Club Tattoo in the Phoenix area.
Chester Bennington On Club Tattoo Anniversary Party
"You know we weren't sure how it was going to work out when we opened the doors thirteen years ago. It has just grown slowly and steadily for the last thirteen years, and this is one of the ways to give back to our clients who have really supported us by throwing a really good party."
Club Tattoo was chosen as Best Tattoo and Body Piercing studio for four years from 1999 to 2003. It has grown to four locations around in Arizona, and Club Tattoo is set to open a location in Las Vegas in 2009.
