Nickelback: New Album In November

Nickelback is set to release their new, still untitled, album on November 18. They're in the studio with acclaimed producer Mutt Lange, who has been behind the board for Def Leppard, AC/DC, and countless others. The first single from the collection will be "If Today Was Your Last Day."

Nickelback, who evolved from a straight ahead hard rock band to a hard rock band with a pop twist, is under no illusions. In a previous interview the bands Mike Kroeger and Ryan Peake said they know what they are, and they know what they're not.

[Mike] "I think it's safe to say that there's a high degree of sense of self in this band. We know who we are and we know who we're not. If it happens that we are creating music that is not us, if one of us doesn't get it or all of us don't get it, there's always one person who is going, 'This is not...' There is always somebody who goes, 'Whoa, whoa, whoa. That's really, really cool, but it's not us, really not what we do.'" [Peake] "We've never gone out there and tried to be the flavor of the week." [Mike] "We couldn't do it anyway. We could try as hard as we want and never be that." [Peake] "We're terrible dancers, and I've always said we'd make a horrible pop band, a horrible boy band." [Mike] "I don't shave often enough. To be in a boy band you have to keep up on this sort of thing." [Peake] "(We) can't get him to shave."

The first single, "If Today Was Your Last Day" will impact at all radio formats on September 30th.

while i don't mind them, or 3 doors down. is anybody else with me when i say i'm ready for them to fall off the face of the earth? they've exhausted their sound, its time for something new.

maybe they should be trying new "non-nickelback" typical stuff instead. it'd be much more interesting.

Somewhat agreed.

I think their messages, in their most recent album mostly, are great, especially in songs like "If Everyone Cared". I'd love to see more "Side of a Bullet"-type stuff. They'd make a great hard-er rock band.

i like some of their older stuff but it seems like recently they are selling out more and more and more... hopefully this will change that but for some reason 'if today was your last day' sounds like the title of yet another ballad

Nickelback's not that bad. At least they know what they sound like and aren't trying to completely overhaul their music to "reinvent" themselves like so many bands have tried and failed at.
Plus they are actually capable of writing some badass songs! (See: "Side Of A Bullet", "Never Again", "Follow You Home")

absolutely. every song sounds the same.
and the singers voice gets really annoying about halfway through every song. thats just my opinion though, i have no problem with other ppl liking them.

however, theres a fairly new 3dd song "train" that actually kicks ass, i think theyre moving in the right direction.

Not that I ever took them seriously to begin with but I can't even look at Chad without bursting out laughing because about 2 years ago at a strip club in Vancouver called Brandi's I saw him there with two of his body guards and after a few beers I went up and told him I wanted to challenge his body guards to a punching contest with this strength testing machine, but he assumed I was challenging him and I just said "No" then muttered "I know I could kick your ass" under my breath. Haha he got so pissed off, great time, good lap dance.

i wish they would bring back music like the album curb. that was some heavy stuff. from 1996, that was what nickelback should be. raw, metallic, hard rockin. but know with the latest album, they kinda sold out. i really hope this new album isnt a sell out album, but that single If Today Was Your Last Day sounds like a nooby song. oh well.

Should be a Pantera cover band, they dedicated ATRR to Dimebag Darrell. They're pretty into all that stuff, and they're much heavier live than on their last album.

I really liked ATRR, its got some really *nice* songs on, if you get what i mean. Also, agreed that some more Side Of A Bullet/Animals kind of stuff would be good - they need to get a bit harder! But its all cool. Hope their new album is great.
