No Van Halen, Peppers, Satch, Hagar For Chickenfoot

Chickenfoot, the all-star band comprised of former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony, guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, will be solely focused on their just released album. The album landed at Number 4 on the Billboard 200 album chart, and fans are certainly digging the new music.

However fans expecting to hear selections from their other catalogs of music with other bands will be severely disappointed.

 Chickenfoot Says No Van Halen Peppers Satch

[Michael Anthony] "Yeah, of course fans will always want to hear the old catalog or whatever, but this is Chickenfoot right now. The live show, we're not doing any of the old Van Halen or Chili Peppers, or whatever you want. We want to establish ourselves as Chickenfoot. Maybe down the line, another album something like that, maybe we'll do one here or there. But we wanted to establish that this is a band right here."

With a successful album and brief club tour that is leaving fans wanting more, the band is looking towards returning this summer. They currently have dates booked in Europe starting June 20 and running through mid July. They kick off the North American tour August 2 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Well that's dumb. They're touring on one album even if you play that whole thing it's still a short show. They need covers to extend the show length past an hour or however long the album is.

Joe Satriani could never play a soulful John Frusciante solo. No matter how good he thinks he is. But I'de much rather hear a new RHCP album than Chickenfoot, they are no more than Van Halen when Sammy Hager was their singer. This sucks, I don't think we will be hearing any new RHCP for a long... long time.

see, at least 3 out of the first 9 comments were pro chili peppers. ive only been following chickenfoot because of chad smith, and i wasnt impressed with their first single. chad smith needs to head back to the chili peppers and quick, before he gets too tied down to chickenfoot.

Me too. Although I was happy because Chickenfoot can keep Hagar. Van Halen needs Roth.

You may have a point. But they could always throw in some covers by some of their favorite bands, not necessarily bands they've been in. It's happened before.

Anyway, I think it's admirable that they're so determined about this. My take on the band: Sammy sounds great like always. Though he's not my favorite guitarist, no one can top Satriani as far as technique goes. Mike Anthony's a solid bassist, and it's Van Halen's loss that he's found a better group. I happen to think it's awesome that Chad Smith is playing with some REAL rockers now, instead of the wannabes in RHCP. Long live the 'foot!

Im sorry but theres no "thinking" about if Satrianis good enough. The man is one of the most accomplished guitarists ever to walk the earth.

And if he cant do soul then what do you call Always with me Always with you, Rubina,Sittin Round, (You're) My World and Starry night just to name 5 that come to mind.

Chad Smith needs to get the other RHCP guys to get back together and record an album.
Sammy Hagar needs to just go away. The only good thing he's ever made is tequila.
