Plain White Ts Working On New Album

Plain White T's, fresh off their Grammy Style Studio and Awards appearance, have revealed they're working on their next album. The re-released version of Every Second Counts spawned the monster hit "Hey There Delilah" and gave the band a trip to play malls across America as well as tour with Fall Out Boy.

Higgenson said that the band will hit the studio this spring.

Tom Writing New Plain White Ts Album

"Yeah, there's actually half of the new album written already. We're going to record it as soon as we're done touring in about April/May. We're going to be recording a new album, definitely writing non-stop, on the road. I've probably written about fifteen songs so far, and out of those I think the band all likes six or seven of those songs. Like I said we're about halfway there, ten more songs written. Hopefully we'll get the last six, and like I said, we'll be ready to record April/May."

Higgenson and the rest of the Plain White T's have had a whirlwind year, and he was asked what the most surreal part of it was.

"Most surreal part? I mean, look around. It's all surreal. We're getting free...everything. Everything just keeps getting stranger and stranger."

Plain White T's lost both of their nominations in the Song Of The Year and Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals categories. The band is in Australia playing the Soundwave touring festival, but in the meantime Higgenson has teamed with Ashlee Simpson for a duet titled "Little Miss Obsessive," and fans can search for it on the internet.

the radio totally overplayed hey there delilah. it was good the first few times i heard it. after about 10 times a day on the radio i hated it. most people only know that song by them.

Heard them play live a few days ago. Utter rubbish. Any guitarist who'd played for over a week could reach the 'musical talent' shown in their songs.

The fact that the only ones cheering and not shaking their heads at the crapness of it all were 13 year old girls in all black really speaks volumes too.

This band really isn't as bad as everyone surmises. And neither is their integrity. They haven't "gone soft" or anything to sell out, they just don't cuss in their albums anymore. They've always been out to make catchy songs thats just fun to listen to.

However, I don't think I appreciated the way they tried to milk Hey There Delilah like they did.

Hm. I think people are a little quick to judge. Delilah was ridiculously overplayed, but why isn't every song on the radio ridiculously overplayed? The same thing goes with Apologize, Umbrella, You're Beautiful and so on, these songs are a cut above the rest because there is something about them that creates a demand for it. Then of course everyone hates them because they get overplayed.

But I take my hat off to people who can write a song that reaches out to so many people. It's easy to write a song that sounds neoclassical, or egyptian, folky or progressive because you have guidelines, scales, odd time signatures and so on. But what gives a song appeal? That's a very inexact science that, in my opinion, takes REAL songwriting talent. How many of you ever wrote a hit song? It's not that easy. And how can the number of plays on the radio possibly deter the quality of a song? A lot of people say they liked it AT FIRST then they grew tired of it and now it sucks. That's not the song's fault, it's the radio.

The song they were up for nomination is a horrible representation of their sound. Also, the fact that they re-made/re-released that song probably around 4-5 times says something about the making money aspect of it all.
