It appears that a Stone Temple Pilots reunion in 2008 is not just rumor, but it's inevitable. On January 20th of 2008, lead vocalist Scott Weiland told the Miami Herald at a charity event in South Beach, Miami that Stone Temple Pilots fans "should be on the lookout for a STP reunion in the coming months."
The rumor of a STP reunion had been circulating for some time since reported tensions in Velvet Revolver rose up again, which also coincided with Scott Weiland reconciling with Robert and Dean Deleo, who were also principle songwriters with Stone Temple Pilots. Stone Temple Pilots broke through in 1992 with the release of their debut album 'Core' which has since gone 8 times Platinum on the strength of the hit single 'Plush.' Stone Temple Pilots released their last full length studio album 'Shangri-La Dee Da' in 2001 and the band's fans have been left wondering if Scott and the Deleo brothers could ever patch things up.
While Weiland went on to form Velvet Revolver with former members of Guns N Roses and the Deleo brothers went on to release an album under the name Army of Anyone, it seems STP fans can finally get excited about the inevitable. We caught up with Robert Deleo recently at an Army of Anyone show to find out how he feels about Stone Temple Pilots long list of accomplishments and if there were any hard feelings between him and Weiland.
Deleo Proud Of Stone Temple Pilots Accomplishments
"You know, I haven't seen Scott in awhile. I wish him the best and there's no hard feelings at all. We just kind of moved on and I'm very proud of what we did."
In 2006 Scott Weiland was asked if he could see a Stone Temple Pilots reunion in the future and he stated "the only thing that's left unfinished is the completion of the story. If all the planets lined up, you never know what might happen one day," implying that the end of the bands story had yet to be written. Recently, current Velvet Revolver and former Guns N Roses guitarist Slash, who is currently working on a solo album, mentioned a Guns N Roses and Stone Temple Pilots reunion tour wouldn't be impossible to put together. Although anything that would involve Axl Rose certainly wouldn't be easy to make possible. Look for Stone Temple Pilots to confirm their plans for 2008 in the coming months.

Actually it's blogged somewhere, and he talks about STP reunion and workin on the next VR album. It's rumored that Duff seems to be over VR, but is he really that great of a bass player? He's replacable.POSTED: 01/25/2008 - 02:26 pm / quote |

Army of Anyone went on an indefinate hiatus after the tour ended, so almost a year ago. Filter is Richard Patrick's focus. Velvet Revolver has a 3 album contract, so I believe they will make a third album and end it. the band hates eachother.POSTED: 01/25/2008 - 06:09 pm / quote |

I love that idea...all except Axl's new band. Don't really care for them but maybe that's just me.
I would really like to see STP and Guns N' Roses back together.POSTED: 01/27/2008 - 10:03 am / quote |

: This is nice and all, but it means that Slash, Duff, and Matt are gonna be stuck. There's no way in hell Axl will take them back. And poor Dave will have to retire back to obscurity.POSTED: 01/27/2008 - 12:10 pm / quote |

: Read Slash's autobiography "Slash". Not only is it a great read but it also lays the clear fact that Slash will never go back to Guns N Roses. Sad to say, but the whole GNR reunion with the original members or even just Slash is a pipe dream. POSTED: 01/27/2008 - 06:22 pm / quote |

: This is some of the best news in my life. I love Velvet Revolver, but STP is my band!.
The VR guys can move on, and get another singer..although he won't be as good as Scott. They're better off without old plastic face (Axl)
STP should pick Dave up as a 2nd guitaristPOSTED: 01/28/2008 - 03:55 am / quote |

: STP!! They are in my top 5 favorite bands. I would love the opportunity to see them play live. (missed them when they were together)
I can't stand Velvet Revolver. I'm an STP fan, a GNR fan, and not VR. 1+1=0 to me.POSTED: 01/30/2008 - 08:38 am / quote |

: YEs!! STP is the best band of the 90s, still underrated though. Loved their style. Although they do kinda "borrow" alot of stuff from other bands like AIC and even Lynyrd Skynyrd..
Super stoked for STP though. Weiland should go back to STP. Have u ever seen VR trying to play STP songs at their concerts!? .. STP deserved better justice...POSTED: 02/01/2008 - 01:46 pm / quote |
