The Who's Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey will be honored by The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts with the prestigious Kennedy Center Honor of 2008 for their lifelong contribution and influence on the culture of The United States. Joining Daltrey and Townshend in getting honored will also be actor Morgan Freeman, singer George Jones, director, singer, actress, composer and producer Barbra Streisand and choreographer Twyla Tharp.

Roger Daltrey to get his thoughts on being honored at
The Kennedy Center Honors.
"Well coming from Shepherds Bush, parts of us from Shepherds Bush in London where we just had our windows put back in and the roofs put on our houses and the kind of black and white world of my early childhood and then seeing this and hearing this music that came from your country and seeing Elvis Presley and hearing people like Little Richard and Jackie Wilson. And then all the Blues artists from your country and then to have your country giving us an honor for an influence on your culture it does, it is incredibly humbling."
In a star studded celebration that will take place on December 7th, the 2008 Honorees will be saluted by great performers from New York, Hollywood, Nashville, and the arts capitals of the world. Seated with the President of the United States and Mrs. Bush, the Honorees will accept the thanks of their peers and fans through performances and heartfelt tributes. The Kennedy Center Honors Gala will be recorded for broadcast on the CBS Network for the 31st consecutive year as a two-hour prime time special.
