Trapt is the latest signee to Eleven Seven records, the label behind the resurgence of Motley Crue and Buckcherry and also the leading force behind CrueFest. Trapt conquered the rock world with their song "Headstrong," off their Warner Brothers debut album, propelling it to platinum for over one million copies sold. Since then, they had a less than commercially successful album on Warner Brothers and were subsequently dropped. The band is back with a new single, "Who's Going Home With You Tonight", and a new record Only Through The Pain, which will be released August 8.
Vocalist Chris Brown said that being booked on CrueFest was the best pre-album promotion they've ever had.
Trapt On Benefit Of Cruefest And Eleven Seven
"Nikki and the guys in Motley Crue have helped us out with that and you couldn't have asked for anything more at this point. That's some of the best stuff we've gotten before we released a record, ever, regardless of Warner Brothers who we were on for... or Eleven Seven. This feels the best yet, so I think everyone's in the same ballgame now. A lot of the rules have changed, and I think it's a free for all for anyone who has got good music. There's tons of people out there that want to hear it, so you've just got to get it to 'em and there's tons of ways of different ways of getting it there and sometimes it takes a little longer."
Bassist Peter Charell and drummer Aaron Montgomery share their thoughts being on CrueFest.
Trapt Thoughts On Being On Cruefest
"Yeah, you're on the road with these people every day for a couple of months at a time. It's not like there's this particular time of day where everyone gets together and bonds. It just started. It's just the first week of tour, but everyone seems pretty cool. No one is trying to not hang out. Everyone seems friendly, so it's good. Playing with these bands night in and night out is awesome, but I guess on a tour level the catering has been good. What can you tell us about the Donut Trays? I haven't seen any donut trays yet, but the desserts are always really good every night. They're always different. This is true."
We asked them if CrueFest felt like a fest or just a Motley Crue tour.
Trapt On Whether Cruefest Feels Like A Fest
"It doesn't feel like a Motley Crue tour because there are five bands. This is a big deal. Their production is huge, and it's an awesome show. There are five bands. A lot of times you get those festivals and there are like five main bands or whatever and there are a lot of other bands or what not. This one it feels like all five bands are just great bands, and it's from start to finish a great show. So, yeah, it feels like a fest, but not really."
Trapt's "Who's Going Home With You Tonight" is currently getting airplay at both Active Rock and Alternative radio. The band parted ways with guitarist Simon Ormandy and hes been replaced by Rob Torres.

: three dumb comments in a row
I actually did mistake it for the r&b singer because of all the other awful bands Motley Crue chose for this tour. Why the hell didn't they get some actual hard rock/heavy metal for this? Ugh.POSTED: 07/10/2008 - 11:58 am / quote |

: I've never heard of these guys before in my life before they got thrown on Cruefest - Just youtubed 'Headstrong' And they seems fairly basic Emo fare.
(And 'Echo' as well - sounds pretty unremarkable to me... TBH, the best parts of CrueFest for me are the Crue, Sixx: AM and papa Roach, although less so since Paramour/re SessionsPOSTED: 07/10/2008 - 12:31 pm / quote |

um Trapt came out with Headstrong a loooong time ago, so what is "fairly basic Emo fare" now was at the very least much less so then. Just sayinPOSTED: 07/10/2008 - 01:35 pm / quote |

: Oh god... I went to the Tampa CrueFest and Trapt was by far the worst band there. The songs were bad, the best stage presence was their drummer, and even though I got good seats, they were very quiet. They are definitely not the force behind CrueFest!POSTED: 07/10/2008 - 01:59 pm / quote |

: I was at Cruefest at Jones Beach too xHelllBound and it was ****ing killer. I thought Trapt was boring as hell I think they got potential. Sixx:Am and Buckcherry were very good but I gotta say the best opening band was PapaRoach especially when he jumped into the Ocean. Motley Crue killed it though it was my second time seeing them they dont disappoint great show.POSTED: 07/10/2008 - 04:17 pm / quote |

Yeah, I wasn't expecting Papa Roach to be good, but damn they were awesome. I was left side balcony, terrible seats, but I got a good view of Jacoby jumping in the water. Motley Crue rocks of course, but I wish they sang a little bit more of their songs. At least they sang the verses in their entirety this time around, lol.POSTED: 07/10/2008 - 06:41 pm / quote |

: Wouldn't Motley Crue be the "the leading force behind CrueFest"? WTH?! lol I saw the show first day and Trapt was alright, but they only performed 5 or 6 songs in less than a half hour and weren't quite as entertaining as the other bands. They were alright though.POSTED: 07/10/2008 - 09:45 pm / quote |

Tha's fair enough Sir - Just passin' my opinion onto it. Its' almost like the Crue are looking for bands that are either on their label or just won;t show them up... HumPOSTED: 07/11/2008 - 07:07 am / quote |

While I like Trapt though, I definitely think there are other tours that would suit them a LOT better than Cruefest. Crue's just too good.POSTED: 07/11/2008 - 10:37 am / quote |
