Trujillo Contributing A Lot To Upcoming Metallica's 'Death Magnetic' |

Having clearly been revitalized by the stage presence and energy of bassist Robert Trujillo, Metallica are feeling very grateful for the input he has brought into the studio during the recording of their upcoming album, 'Death Magnetic.'
The album, which is due to hit the street in September has been in the works for a few years and will be Metallica's follow up album to 2003's 'St Anger.' 'St. Anger' was the last album produced by Bob Rock and in fact featured Bob Rock on bass, who took over for Jason Newsted. The band would then go on to audition a number of bassists like Jeordie White, Eric Avery, Danny Lohner, and Chris Wyse, to name just a few and after a the long process, decided Robert Trujillo fit more than anyone else as the band took the band in a new direction.
We caught up with James Hetfield recently to get his thoughts on how grateful he is to not only have Robert Trujillo in the band but how open they are to his input in the studio during the recording of ' Death Magnetic.'

"Robert Trujillo is an amazing person. His character, his ability on bass. He's already contributed a lot to the record. We're a lot more open to it to. He's fresh and he's open and he's so easy to be around. It's a real honor and we're very grateful to have him in the band. So we're looking forward to how this record is going to come out."
Trujillo, formerly of Suicidal Tendencies and Ozzy Osbourne's band also performed with Infectious Grooves and recorded with Jerry Cantrell and Black Label Society. Metallica's lead guitarist Kirk Hammett also talked about Trujillo fitting in perfectly and feeling like he's been in the band for years.
Watch video: Kirk Hammett On Robert Trujillo Fitting In To Metallica Perfectly
"He's there for us through any sort of musical situation. I mean, he's just great. He stepped up to the plate. He could follow us. Because sometimes things start moving really quickly us in the studio and he's just right there no problems what so ever. He just fits in. It doesn't even fell like he's a new member anymore. It feels like he's been in the band forever. It's great and you know, him and I get we get to scheme on where we're going to get all our surfing in, in between all these musical adventures."
Metallica are currently touring Europe in support of 'Death Magnetic' which is set for release on September 16th, 2008 as a box set. The band does have one show in The U.S. booked, which is at Ozzfest in Dallas, Texas on August 9th, 2008. Look for the band to announce a more extensive run of U.S. tour dates in the very near future.
The confirmed 'Death Magnetic' track listing is as follows:
01. 'That Was Just Your Life'
02. 'The End Of The Line'
03. 'Broken, Beat & Scarred'
04. 'The Day That Never Comes'
05. 'All Nightmare Long'
06. 'Cyanide'
07. 'The Unforgiven III'
08. 'The Judas Kiss'
09. 'Suicide & Redemption'
10. 'My Apocalypse'

: Yeah, I'm looking forward to, as a bassist myself, some killer bass lines as well.
The song titles sound good. Unforgiven III, My Apocalypse, The Day That Never Comes, they sound like good song titles.POSTED: 07/25/2008 - 09:04 am / quote |

: Unforgiven III.... This is destined for greatness... Hopefully they don't **** it up this time round. They have a good track record for putting out good records, so chances are its going to be good. And this time they arn't BAAAWWWWing to a therapist, so it should be better off. : It doesn't sound like 'the new song' and 'the other new song' are going to be on Death Magnetic, with the song titles, I hope 'the new song' is definately going to be on Death Magnetic, cuz that song is so awesome. But those lyrics are from 2 years ago, so they've probably changed. I was hoping there was going to be a title track, and that the cover would be like classic Metallica album covers, with the name all big and going across the top.POSTED: 07/25/2008 - 10:05 am / quote |

: This might be something really good. Unforgiven III sounds promising, altho they could break the other two 'Unforgivens' if this third 'sequel' sucks ass.
Furthermore, 'The Day That Never Comes' sounds cool too, it has a 'The Thing That Should Not Be' ring to it, and that's one of my very favorite 'Tallica songs!

I bet you're one of those people who preferred 'Magnetic Death', completely missing the point and the intricacies of the title. Talent isn't something that you lose; Metallica will always have the ability to do what they did in the 80s and early 90s. Off Load and Reload I loved King Nothing, Hero of the Day, Bleeding Me, Cure, Mama Said, The Outlaw Torn, Fuel, The Memory Remains, Prince Charming, Low Mans Lyric and Fixxer.
'The Judas Kiss' and 'My Apocalypse' sound like awesome song titles, but that doesn't mean the songs will be any good, we have to wait for the songs to judge that. And judge we shall...POSTED: 07/25/2008 - 03:54 pm / quote |

I had serious doubts about Trujillo before. In fact I partly blame him for St.Anger.
But, after seeing him pretty much nail Orion live and the flamenco stuff he was doing in those Mission: Metallica videos, I have to say this guy is one heck of a talent!!

My bad! I forgot he didn't play on the album. I guess what I trying to say is that I associated the crapiness of St. Anger with Trujillo, which is not fair.
But now seeing what he's capable of, I think it was definitely a good decision to bring him on. POSTED: 07/26/2008 - 05:51 am / quote |
