artist: umphreys mcgee date: 03/27/2007 category: video news

Umphreys McGee are set to release 'The Bottom Half' on April 3rd and the double disc set features B Sides from their latest album 'Safety in Numbers' and rarities from the studio as well. Disc one features ten tracks that were originally recorded during the recording of 'Safety In Numbers' while disc two offers outtakes, alternative versions of songs, a cappella recordings, and other bits from the band's 2005 studio sessions.

We caught up with lead guitarist Jake Cinninger to discuss the bands thoughts on their first ever B Sides double disc.

Umphreys Mcgee Release Bsides Disc

"We've got all the preproduction recordings which is really cool. Like every step of the way even down to the four track versions, the first incarnations of some of these songs are filed. So, we might as well put out a disc or two discs with all this information on the birth of these songs and other songs that didn't make the actual disc."

It was also announced recently the Umphreys McGee will be taking part in The Green Apple Music Festival, which is Earth Day's biggest celebration being held on April 20th-22nd in New Yorks Central Park, Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo and San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. With over 200 performances being held in over 60 venues in 3 major US Cities spanning 3 days, Umphrey's McGee will be joining Bob Weir and Rat Dog, Stephen Marley, The Decemberists, The Kaiser Chiefs, John Mayall and many others to celebrate Earth Day in 2007. It appears there is no rest for the weary for Umphreys McGee, already with a full slate of tour dates booked until May, the band is already in preproduction stages of their next full length studio album as well, which they hope to release in the coming months.
