Weird Al Yankovic Parodies R Kelly With 'Trapped In The Drive Thru'

artist: weird al date: 03/29/2007 category: video news

Weird Al Yankovic is once again enjoying tremendous world wide success with his latest album 'Straight Outta Lynwood', which has already spawned the hit 'White and Nerdy', and now Al looks to release his next parody video 'Trapped in the Drive Thru.' Already featuring parodies of Chamillionaire, Green Day, Usher and Taylor Hicks, 'Weird Al' is set to release his latest parody of R Kelly's song 'Trapped in the Closet.'

We caught up recently with Weird Al to talk about the tedious and meticulous process of giving birth to albums.

Watch video: Weird Al On Giving Birth To Albums

"It's always an effort. It's always like giving birth whenever I put out an album. I pay a lot of attention to detail and even though my material is silly, I guess you'd say, there is a craft involved and I do spend a lot of time making it as good as it can possibly be. My band is amazing as well, I've been with them for a quarter of a century and they're all amazing guys. I wouldn't say it's easy but it's something that we love doing so it's always a joy."

So with the album finished, is Weird Al keeping tabs on current events for future parodies?

Watch video: Weird Al On Next Album

"You know I kind of turn off my radar after the album comes out because by the time the next album comes out anything that's popular right now probably will feel like old news. So to keep topical I need to wait until the last minute. I also know I'll be supporting 'Straight Outta Lynwood' for some time, we're going to be touring this year and probably next year as well. So, I'm not even going to be thinking about the next album for some time."

Weird Al and his band have been putting together parody albums and touring live together for over 25 years now and they have a very busy summer of touring booked with dates that begin May 2nd and extend until September 14th in British Columbia, Canada.
