With Paramore, That Is What You Get

After the tremendous chart success of the singles 'Misery Business' and 'CrushCrushCrush,' Paramore have released their 3rd single from the groundbreaking album 'Riot!' The album, which is the bands 2nd record, but first on Atlantic Records, showcases a rising band with talented songwriters and a vocalist that appears ready to take the music world by storm. Paramore, which consists of brothers Zac and Josh Farro along with bassist Jeremy Davis and vocalist Hayley Williams have rode their success of 'Riot!' all the way to a Gold certified album, with sales now over 800,000 and an array of accolades including a Best New Artist nomination at this years 50th Annual Grammy Awards and Band of the Year honors from Alternative Press. Having toured nearly non-stop since coming together in 2004, Paramore also recently sold out every show of its 22-date North American headline trek and now the band has released the single 'That's What You Get.'

We caught up with Josh and Zac to get their thought on Paramore's latest single.

Paramore On Single Thats What You Get

"I wrote that music sort of sitting in my bedroom and I was like 'Oh, it's pretty cool.' So I brought it to Hayley and I think we wrote it in Orlando, Florida like Hayley was writing the lyrics. She's like 'I think I have something to this.' It's sort of about, you know, it's a pretty self explanatory song. Like the lyrics are really simple that's what you get when you let your heart win and you don't really think with your head. You're more thinking based on a feeling."

Paramore are currently touring with Jimmy Eat World and both bands will be performing at The Bamboozle festival on Saturday, May 3rd at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey. From there, the band will cross the Atlantic to headline the UKs annual Give It A Name festival, slated for May 10th and 11th in London and Sheffield, respectively.

I was never a fan of this band, but I saw them open for Jimmy Eat World a few nights ago, and I was surprisingly impressed. They definitely put on a decent show. Too bad that 95% of their 800,000 sales are to teenage girls

They are good. As i said in a previous paramore article, they are one of the very few mainstream bands that are acctualy alrite. Along with Muse.

By groundbreaking they mean for Paramore. It brought them into mainstream success, it broke ground for them. And why do people constantly leave comments saying "how is this news?" What do you classify as news? You want weather reports and hurricane warnings on your ultimate-guitar page? Maybe you can start a petition.

Anyway, this band will be forever classified as pop-punk and will probably never be taken seriously by hard rock fans. But you can't deny how catchy and full their tunes are, I really enjoy their energy.

And without being disgusting like the dude I quoted, I must say haley is very talented and quite pretty. Look up an acoustic vid on YouTube if you want proof, she's great!

Well thats just your opinion. Talent is undeniable. Taste is differentiable. Your mixing the two up mate. Theres something about Paramore that I love, I usually hate these kind of bands, Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Eat World, Plain White T's. But like I said, they just click with me.

Paramore isn't really talented at all. They just happen to make some catchy songs. Someone said 95% of their 800k albums sold is to teenage girls, which is true, but Haley is a teenage girl as far as I know. I mean every song I've heard from them is obviously about high school girl teenage drama. Not much talent here, just a lot of luck. They made some catchy songs and have a really hott lead singer. But, good luck to them, they're gonna need it to stay afloat.

I don't see how writing about their highschool lives could mean that they're not talented. And appart form the fact that their songs are catchy and that the lead singer is kinda hot, the singing seems to be impecable (even live) and the writing is really good--so yeah, I would consider them somewhat talented and I think they have a lot of potential as a young band.
