is reporting, Boomtown Rats
frontman and Live Aid
co-organizer Bob Geldof
is set to be blasted into space next year, as part of the first commercial space flight. Geldof will be one of 100 passengers on the flight, organized by the Space Expedition Corporation
. Tickets cost $100,000. Geldof has issued the following statement about the expedition:"Being the first Irishman in space is not only a fantastic honour but pretty mind-blowing."
He added: "The first rock astronaut space rat! Elvis may have left the building but Bob Geldof will have left the Planet! Wild! Who would have thought it possible in my lifetime?"
Geldof will join DJ Armin van Buuren

experience. The singer recently reunited with his one time band the Boomtown Rats. The group originally disbanded in 1986.
