Bon Jovi Responds To Green Day: We've Never Even Played Together!

Bon Jovi's Richie Sambora has responded to Green Day's accusation that they are the "worst band" they've ever toured with.

Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong slammed the '80s icons earlier this month when he claimed they were no fun to share the stage with but, in an interview with Rolling Stone, Sambora claimed he had no recollection of ever joining forces with the power punk trio on the road.

When confronted with Armstrong's statement, he replied: "I have no idea what happened with that, I actually don't recall them opening for us". He then added:
"Either I was incapacitated at that point or I just don't remember it. I'm sorry he had such a bad time".

Over the weekend, Armstrong hit the headlines when he checked himself into rehab for substance abuse treatment two days after an onstage meltdown during the band's performance at iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.

A statement published on Green Day's website read: "Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologise to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances".

The singer launched a foul-mouthed tirade at the end of the band's gig in Las Vegas gig on September 21. Believing that the band only had one minute of their slot remaining, Armstrong yelled: "Oh f--k this sh-t. I'm gonna play a f---ing new song. F--k this shit. Give me a f---ing break. One minute left. You're gonna give me one f---ing minute?"

Armstrong concluded his outburst by smashing his guitar on the stage and aiming a parting shot at the audience, stating: "One minute. God f---ing love you all. We'll be back."

Last month the band announced a huge UK stadium show for next summer. The trio will headline London's 60,000 capacity Emirates Stadium on June 1, 2013. Tickets for the show will go onsale at the end of this month on September 28.

Thanks to NME for the report.
