Geoff Tate Officially Launches His Own Queensryche
Geoff Tate has officially launched his own version of Queensryche. It follows news yesterday that his name appeared on listings for the Montrey International Festival as "Queensryche Starring Geoff Tate". He has now announced plans for an "all-star lineup", and will append the band title with "The Original Voice". It is a controversial move after taking his former bandmates in the original Queensryche to court in an attempt to block them from performing under the name. It may help explain why he kept access to the band's website and social media networks. The band and their new frontman Todd La Torre were forced to perform under the moniker Riding West until July when they defeated Tate's preliminary injunction. They recently returned to the stage as Queensryche at the Halfway Jam in Minnesota. Despite the ongoing drama, Tate recently told That Metal Show that he wants to talk out their problems face to face: "I'd like to sit in a room with those gentlemen and have them tell me face to face what the situation is. Explain their actions. I'd like to know and actually understand their point of view. I'd like to see them talk to me face to face rather than through the internet." Which version of Queensryche would you rather see live? Let us know in the comments.
