Despite sobering up and staying clean for over 20 years, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is still infamous for his heavy drug use to this very day. In a recent chat on Australian edition of "60 Minutes", the singer was asked to address the rumor claiming he had spent a total of $20 million on his bad habit.
Tyler went on to explain that the figure is by all means an exaggeration, but then again not too far from the truth.
"No, probably, realistically, 5 or 6, easy. But it doesn't matter. You also could say I snorted half of Peru, but, you know, it's what we did."
The frontman was also known for keeping cocaine in his trademark microphone scarves, saying he "needed it" pretty badly. After sobering up, Tyler has admitted the drugs have ruined him, "taking away his children and marriages".
As far as Aerosmith goes, the band has recently marked the 40th anniversary of their self-titled debut album, with the popular Toxic Twins, Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry receiving ASCAP Founders Award for their "exception contribution to music, inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators."
