is today reporting that Susan Boyle
will be recording a new version of "Oh Come All Ye Faithful
" for her forthcoming Christmas album that will feature vocal contributions from the late Elvis Presley
. Susan Boyle reportedly secured permission to use Presley's vocals on the track after a meeting with Elvis' ex-wife, Priscilla
:"Priscilla asked Susan in person why she should be given the honour. Susan gave a hearfelt speech about how much it meant to her family and how Elvis was her father's idol. It must have worked."
Boyle would not be the first artist to have collaborated with the ghost of Elvis. Both Celine Dion
and Frank Sinatra
have recorded duets with the King after his death in previous years.Earlier this year it was revealed that a collection of Elvis Presley's recording sessions at Stax Records will be released together as a box set for the first time. Titled "Elvis at Stax: Deluxe Edition
," the three-CD box set also features outtakes and rare photos from the two July and December 1973 sessions, which resulted in three separate albums. But what do you think? Will you be rushing out to buy the record? Or do you think that using vocal takes from the late Elvis Presley is heresy? Let us know in the comments.
