Purchased from: Secong Hand Shop
Features: With two rather ugly pick-ups, four strings, twenty frets and a very naff finish, the Encore PK20 is perfect for anyone wishing to enter the wonderful world of electric bass. The body has a very shiny, plasticky black finish which is ruined by the pale wooden fretboard which tapers away to a squire-esque headstock. // 6
Sound: The sound this guitar produces is perhaps it's worst. From the booming open E to the high but flat and dull (unfortuneately) 20th fret on the G string, the PK20 regularly doesn't deliver. // 4
Action, Fit & Finish: I have had nothing but trouble from this guitar. The mere tension of the strings ripped the fretboard up giving about 2 inches of action near the body of the guitar. Once that was fixed, the ill-constructed headstock caused the G string to snap. Once that was replaced, the next thing that broke was one of the machine heads. All in all, it's more trouble than it's worth. // 2
Reliability & Durability: The strings go out of tune incredibly easily on this guitar and a rattle is heard with almost every note. This guitar isn't even saved by it's looks because the black finish chip very easily to reveal cheap white plastic. // 4
Impression: Taking sound, aesthetics and durability into accound, this guitar is only suitable for a beginner. It is short scale and easy to use but upon closer inspection, it is of a terrible standard. // 4
