Sound: The music on this album is a little heavier and old-school punk influencedthan their later stuff (Black Sails onward). It is quite raw, but very good. This was before they had Jade on guitar, so the guitar playing is not quite as good as their later albums. It fits the music well, though. The music is not as melodic as their other stuff, and is a little more old school punk-thrash. I prefer the later albums, like Black sails and Art of Drowning, but most of the songs are good. A little more stripped-down. // 8
Lyrics and Singing: The lyrics on this album are excellent. The two songs written by AFI (3 1/2 and Over Exposure) are classic Davey Havoc. Poetic and wonderful. The cover of The Hangin Garden by The Cure has good lyrics as well. the Misfits cover Demonomania leaves something to be desired to say the least. Overall, though, brilliant. // 10
Impression: This is a very good album. Not their best EP (All Hallows is the best), but most of the songs are good. Since there are only four songs, I will only choose 1 standout track, and that is for sure "3 1/2". The Cure cover is good as well. I was really not impressed by Demonomania, the Misfits cover. It really didn't seem to fit on the album at all. This EP is worth buying, since it's so cheap, and it's AFI, but All Hallows is better. Very impressive nonetheless. If it were stolen, I would buy it again for sure. // 10
love this EP. =]
