Sound: When I got this album, or EP I was already familure with Aidens last album "Nightmare Anatomy" and knew what to expect. This EP is more or less an extension in my eyes of what Aiden didn't have room for, or didn't have time to do on their sophmore album. Their musical style hasn't really changed since the last album, they still retain a signituer gothic pop-punk music style with dark lyrics to back up the heavy guitars. There are only 6 tracks on this EP one of them being the Intro which is just short of a instrumental track complete with rain and thunder and a few lines from the lead singer. The second track is called "The Suffering" and is a bit slower in the tempo then their usual songs. It isn't too granduer with just the basics, guitar, bass, drums vocals with a fairly silent verse and a driving chorus. The third track is called "We sleep forever" and is the only song on the album to get it's very own music video for the movie "Dead Silence". it's a bit better song than the song before it with a faster pace and a catchier chorus. "Hey Call the angels! ect" it's also the most creative song on the album and sounds most like something that belongs on their last album. Track number four is one of two cover songs, each rather well known song and twisted a bit with the touch and sound of Aiden. "White Wedding" was originally sung by Billy Idol and this version is a crunchier sound to it, less friendly sounding vocals as Aidens lead singers voice at times can become a little repetative. "Die Darling Die" is the 5th track on the album and is a cover from the popular Misfits song of the same name. It would seem repetative to do a cover of an band in the same pool of music, not even genre, but the only difference it seems is to the voice and better sound quality then the old misfits version, as well as some prettier guitar work. The last track "Silent Eyes" is probobly the slowest song ever played by Aiden, it simply is a acoustic song with some lewd lyrics and features the lead singer actually trying to sing without wailing out as he usually does, save for the chorus. // 7

Lyrics and Singing: Seeing that 2 out of 6 songs are cover songs, you can't say much for the album as a whole but what was original on the album was something you would expect from aiden by looking at their first and second album. Many of the themes of the EP circle around relationships esspecially those of a Romeo and Juliette tragedy-esque nature. As well as mentioning of self mutilation, suicide and other dark themes. The love song is not forgein to the bands library however they seem to center on relationships that wouldn't work out and involves one wanting to kill themselves or each other. Not much more metaphors or similes. Lyrics are pretty straight foreward will little thought. The singers voice isn't the most pleasent but it does seem to compliment the guitar work and sound of Aiden. // 6

Impression: Compared to the last two albums, I am not too impressed it just seems an extension of the same style that they were using before. Not much screamo and two un original titles doesn't really give much confidence in the bands ability to make a third original album. The most impressive song was "Silent Eyes" which was both musically pleasing, a departure from aidens usual bit of songs and simply a well written song. I love the album because Aiden is a good band, but I hate it because nothing ground breaking or new in style was on it. If it were lost or stolen I would buy it only for Silent Eyes. // 7

Sound: The band are really good as a whole, and now they're starting to develop a new sound different from any other band. Many genres float in the air around Aiden such as Metal, Punk or Emo. I say they could be all of these but the genre many use is "Horror Rock". I basically think that Aiden are unique and are their own genre. This album was only an EP but still a stunner form the Seattle quintet. Their main influence is The Misfits but they are NOT trying to be like them. // 9

Lyrics and Singing: The lyrics are purely amazing, wiL has such talent and relates the lyrics to his past experiences. Not only wiL takes the credit, a few of the songs have been co-written with Nick (bass) and Jake (guitar). Lyrics in the song We Sleep Forever are amazing, he uses such complex words and manages to fit them in too. His voice has changed over time but he still has the croaky Seattle voice we all love that makes them Aiden. Angel is the main backing singer and Jake and Nick do the screams and chants. // 10

Impression: Its a phenomenal EP leading up to their 4th Album "Conviction". With a handy cover of Die Die My Darling by The Misfits they make good work of it. Also on the EP is the acoustic song "Silent Eyes" this was written and composed entirely by wiL in memory of John Beatz who died last year on the Warped Tour, he was the drummer for the band Bayside, fellow Victory Records signers. Also comes with a DVD with a full show live from Seattle and extra performances and Music videos of "Die Romantic", "Knife Blood Nightmare" and The Last Sunrise". Buy it. If it got stolen I would buy it again, it's not great because it only has 6 songs but it's nice to know that I have a piece of Aiden with me. // 10

he uses such complex words
LOL!

alright then, i dunno about anyone else, but im gonna try to take that statement seriously:

first, lets choose a song at random. "the suffering" - right, first few lines:

"Burn Your Friends
Burn Your Friends
Burn Your Friends
Burn Your Friends"

i also remember a music video i saw on scuzz... (UK music video channel on TV), and i looked up the lyrics, to find:

"
Hey, call the angels. This razor blade was meant for me
Hey, call the angels. We'll mutilate insanity"

wow, what an amazing idea. i can imagine how the lyrics writing went for that song "ive got an idea guys. instead of actually saying that we're gonna slit our wrists, lets just allude to it. and lets come up with some gory line as well, how about "we'll mutiliate insanity"? sound good? and lets make it longer, how about we say "hey, call the angels" at the beggining of each line?"

genious. so much innovation.

and i must say, by fair my favourite song is "silent eyes". just check out these lyrics:

"This is the last time
through hell, I've seen your insides
Tear out your eyes tonight, you'll see
Is this where my angel lies?
I've cut you up to see me
Am I worth a thousand lies?
Infect your perfect sliced up skin"

perhaps im stupid, but im afraid i dont see much emotional value in the concept of talking about cutting people up and looking at their organs. and i love the way they throw in a few random generic emo kid quotes; "am i worth 1000 lies?" hahahahaha.

theres more. heres my favourite verse:

"It's raining in cuts so bright,
The screaming soothes the anger
I've never been so scared alive
When friends that crash goodbye
Their soul will change the future
and that's where the beauty in death resides
Infect your perfect sliced up skin"

its raining cuts. hahahahaha. such creativity there.

go ahead. say the usual generic responses; "if you dont like the band, then why post here?" well my answer to that is that i enjoy it when people say stupid things about a band and get all pissed off when someone insults them.

say "everyone has an opinion" etc, i dont care. if you genuinely like the band for the right reasons, then youll know how dumb the lyrics are and youll say to yourself "haha yeah thats true their lyrics is their biggest downfall" or whatever. but the truth is, most people who like this band like it because its "in fashion" at the moment

but im getting off topic. relates lyrics to past experiences does he? so hes cut up his ex girlfriends with a knife and then suddenly had her emotions all dawn on him? y'see, i have a feeling that thats illegal.

I am so ****ing sick of hearing the word "emo" to describe a genre of music!!! there is no "emo" music, anything that is called "emo" or "screamo" falls ito the genre of post-hardcore, post-punk, pop punk, indie, horror punk, new wave, metalcore and and other genres. emo is a fashoin statement in which many of these bands indulge but it is cretainly NOT a type of music! Aiden is a great band y the way.

I liked Aiden's first two albums. Yes, there is some emo content, but a lot of punk music has that now. My issue with the latest album is the lyrics lack originality. All three albums include the same motif repeated: burn your friends. I think I got it the first time. Also, even though the sound is clearer now, it doesn't make the music better. I think that their latest album is worst than their second. Not one song says anything unique or different or provokes any emotion what-so-ever. I mean, two out of the six songs on the album are covers. I wish that Aiden would notice the lack of creativity and do something different, but after three albums, it appears as though Aiden is going to continue remaking their old song.

if there is a band i do not like, it is aiden. they are wayyyyy too much about image. really they are very immature people in my mind to sing about things they sing about, and to display themselves the way they do.

The lyrics to these songs are generally uninspiring like "this razorblade was meant for me" from We Sleep Forever. The whole thing, except the acoustics which are not very interesting to listen to either, is pretty much a rip off of the Misfits yet again as with their previous albums. The sooner they stop riding off the backs of the Misfits and AFI, they better they'll start to sound, unless of course they just suck anyway and are just leeching off the popularity of well known bands

I really like Aiden but this kinda really disappointed me. Seriously, I don't even get why the put out an EP? They have two good albums out, this feels more like a step back words to be honest. The songs aren't bad or anything I just feel the don't live up to the standard of their older songs and it's just too short. Six songs, two of which are covers, just WTF? The covers aren't bad don't get me wrong, I just don't think they should be 1/3 of the whole thing.

are you ****ing kidding me?
they arent saying they are going to cut themselves. that song was written for a fan...she wrote them and her story really meant something to them so they wrote about her. you dumbass. and silent eyes the other song you were quoting and bashing, that was written for John Beatz who died in a car crash while on tour. you may not think he is a good writer but you just dont understand what he is saying. your taking it to literally you need to actually think. they have more talent than you ever will. especially with your attitude. i would love to see you go through what wiL went through then make it as far as they have. honestly are you that great that you can insult people who actaully have talent. here i will tell you something and let me put it in words you will understand...GO KILL YOURSELF! your obviously not worth the air on this earth. especially if you spend all your time looking up lyrics for bands you are just going to insult and posting something that long about them...like wiL's favorite quote "Get busy living or get busy dying" oh and if your going to say something your better know what your talking about first. you basically just insulted John Beatz and that fan.in my opinion its people like you that are infecting this world.

In my opinion, the EP is really good. And I know not everyone agrees with that and to be honest I'm not here to tell people they should like Aiden. Aiden are one of my favourite bands and I love them a lot, but I can understand if people don't like them, or their lyrics don't mean anything to them.
What i do have a problem with is if they decide to look up lyrics just to slag them off and make the presumption that just cos the lyrics mean nothing to them means that they mean nothing to other people. They do!
Maybe I don't like your favourite band, but I'm not gonna go on their message board and slag them off now, cos I have better things to do with my time.

Stop.....
why does everyone always have to judge people by what music they listen to? And why is it that people hate all those why dont listen to the same genre of music as they do and make fun?
if someone like emo then thats their choice, if someone likes metal then thats there choice. Leave em alone!
If there is any music bashing goin on then lets bash rap n s*** like that!
i have my favourites obviously, but i think any band that are able to get to the point of being able to release an album deserve some credit.
