saying he was like "punk moses" is somewhat accurate because they hated gays for a long while

do they still hate gays, or have they grown up? also, is this more of a punk album or a metal/hard rock album?

Its a bad brains album. I'd still call them punk. Its sort of like asking if primus is funk or metal. Look them up on youtube and you'll get an idea.

It's an absolute masterpiece, I'm so stoked that the user rating is still a perfect 10 as of this writing. I Against I is one of those albums that any music fan, no matter their personal taste, can put on and enjoy.

The "hating gays" issue is the result of an incident in which Biscuit of Texas hardcore band The Big Boys scored them some weed. While he was doing this, HR apparently discovered that he was gay. He then proceeded to give him an envelope that was supposed to contain the money for the weed but, when opened, contained a note that said "Burn in hell bloodclot faggot". According to legend, the rest of the band tried to smooth things over, and Dr. Know gave him the money. Keep in mind that this was 25 years ago, when such behavior wasn't uncommon in the public at large, but rare in the close-knit, mutually supportive punk scene. I find it ironic that, these days, someone can call someone a "fag" and it's reprehensible. Yet the people who take offense at this are perfectly within their rights to call that person every name in the book. But that's a discussion for another place. Anyway, Bad Brains weren't homophobes- they just had a crazy vocalist.

Last I checked Moses wasn't an advocate for gay rights.

Get over it. They were young and angry and overzealous in their beliefs...it's been addressed already. And anyway who cares? It was based on things from 20-25 years ago. Please, find something else to be angry about. Let's just be here to talk about good music.
