Sound: Think of an intense traffic. Now add some explosions, people running across the street and sirens screaming from everywhere. Right after this, think of a river in the middle of nothing. Now add some trees to it's side, some birds, then some mountains and a sun. Beautiful, isn't it? This is the image of the band. Both scenarios express the band's mood. In some songs, you'll have one scene in your mind, and in other songs you'll have the other. This band is a power trio, and no more than this. Drums (Charlie Zeleny), Guitar (Mike Lerner) and Warr Guitar (Colin Marston). For those who don't know what a Warr Guitar is, it's a guitar and a bass in one instrument only. It may have from 7 to 15 strings and it's played vertically, like an acoustic bass, or horizontally, like a guitar. BTA is experimental, techincal and intelligent at the same time. So experimental, that they took a long time to compose three songs. You don't get the guitar and play anything. They thought of every single detail and every single note when composing the songs. Seven, five and four minute songs. // 10
Lyrics and Singing: There are NO lyrics in this EP. Any single lyric. And it's because of this that the band's sound becomes more interesting. You don't have to spend 3 months singing with the song and keeping the lyrics in your mind, you just listen to the cd, paying attention to the instrumental, and that's the hard part. Many people don't like instrumental songs. And having the band being instrumental and chaotic, it's hard two times to listen, pay attention to the instrumental and enjoy it, like I did. // 10
Impression: A good example of band that sounds exactly like BTA is Dysrhythmia (side project of Colin Marston, the Warr guitarist). Just listen to their last CD, Barriers And Passages. Nano-Nucleonic most impressive song, for me, is Sensory Amusia. Not because I can play it but, because it's not THAT strange thing. BTA is experimental, technical and intelligent. And it's 100% worth listening. // 10

Sound: The band's sound varies throughout the album like at the beginning, Exospacial Psionic Aura, is a pretty good opening track but I don't think it is heavy enough. It sounds like there was a mute put on the disortion of the guitar. After that, the band really heavys out and jams like crazy. The first time I heard the album, I couldn't tell one of the guitarists was playing a warr guitar. A warr guitar is a kind of uugly thing that has a small body and long neck about 6 inches thick in some places. They usually have about 12 different tuned strings. You don't exacly walk away humming the music after the first couple of listens but I certainly admire the band's creativity. // 9
Lyrics and Singing: Behold The Arctopus is an instrumental band and don't sing. However, if they did sing, they could come up with some quite exuberent lyrics. What the hell do I rate this as? I'll stay consistant. // 9
Impression: BTA are kind of like early Metallica or Anthrax mixed with Venom without vocals. The amps are relatively normal sounding for the dist. settings, but BTA are still able to make an impressive sound. I really like Estrogen/Pathogen Exchange Program and You Will Be Reincarnated As An Imperial Attack Spaceturtle because of the humor involved and the sound of both songs. They both are pretty heavy and the guitar work on E/PEP is pretty phenominal. I give it a 9/10 for the creativity involved not only in the music but also in the theme as well. The one, okay two, things that bug me about this album is that it is not really an album. It is more of a test run to see what the world thinks. There are only five original songs on the album and some live tracks. They also really should have a vocalist to make some lyrics. They could be quite funny. If they did, BTA would really start to go places. // 9
