Sound: As always with Big Sugar thier guitars are heavily distorted. This great third effort from a great band, Gordie Johnson has taken the sound of the band in a slighly different direction. This album certainly has more catchy upbeat songs than the previous record, such as "On The Scene," "Girl Watcher" and "Diggin A Hole." Blues is a part of this bands sound and it is shown in "Kickin Stone" with it's powerful chord progression and chorus. Lastly there are a few good eccentric things about this album like the great cover of Bachman-Turner Overdrive's "Let It Ride" which is better than the original and alot crunchier, and the song heart "Heart Refused To Pound" which is great song but stops for two minutes and goes into a strange aray of drums and synth-wah. // 7

Lyrics and Singing: Gordie Johnson writes simple powerful lyrics for his simple powerfulvoice. "Kickin Stones" is a deep song of a mans regrets on gettin involved in a womens, accompanied by light hearted words of a man who is utterly whipped in "Better Get Used To It." As few know Big sugar participated in a "Free The Weed" album called "Hempilation" which makes the lyrics of "100 Cigarettes" that much less surprising. Aside from these examples all the other songs have great lyrics strangely congruent with the music. // 9

Impression: Surprising change from their Bluesier material yet still good. Big Sugar managed have to create a good yet commercial effort. This album showcases the unique Sound created by Gordie Johnson and his bandmates, all of these song are worth listening to again and again. Although there are strange breaks in the songs of spontaneous experimentality (as is the bands way) the tone achieved on these songs is phenomenal, if I lost this album I'd steal another copy because I'm broke and Big Sugar is worth gettin caught with. // 9
