Compared to their last album with Beau, "Awakening" is a major improvement. They seemed to have clicked with each other and have created a really solid album.

Sound: First of all, the drumming Matt Traynor does on the album is fantastic. The double bass work on "Bottomfeeder" is amazing in my opinion. The rest of the band fills in nicely. The music is catchy at some points. The breakdowns have better quality than on Witness. // 10

Lyrics and Singing: The lyrics are similar to what Beau and Jared sang about on the last record, so I'm kind of disappointed. However, Beau's and Jared's vocal work have increased in quality. They added additional backing vocals from guitarist Eric Lambert, which increase the vocal quality of the album. // 9

Impression: Compared to their last album with Beau, "Awakening" is a major improvement. They seemed to have clicked with each other and have created a really solid album. The lyrics compliment the music, and the musicianship is great. Another good album from a good band. // 10

I just gave the album a listen; it's pretty good, about the same level of awesome as Witness but 10000X better drumming this time.

Nothing will ever compare to His Last Walk though...

i like blessthefall, but this album has nothing new. Its the same as witness, just not as good.

From the moment Bottomfeeder and Promised Ones were released I knew that this album would be similar to Witness. In all fairness having listened to the whole album it does seem like they've tried to branch off to a certain extent, although it does still feel like they're releasing Witness 2.0.

I'm not gonna say it isn't a good album, because I enjoyed it, but the guitarists really need to buck their ideas up. When Witness came out I noticed that on a lot of songs they reused lines/riffs (intentionally or not) that were present on His Last Walk. The same applies to this album as I feel the guitarists have again taken too much from previous albums/songs and incorporated it into the new album. I for one was quite excited when I heard the original rhythm guitarist was leaving, I thought there might be a chance that the new guitarist pushed the band forward and added something new. Needless to say I was mistaken...

i 2nd tht very very badly, and unclean vocals on this new album if u havnt noticed r a heluva lot more beastly
