Sound: Dying Fetus has a sound that's very unique compared to most other death metal bands out there. They blend the furious drumming and deep gutteral voices with insane guitarwork that is both catchy and very technical. The best way to describe it is grindcore meets death metal, and the result is something that's very accessible compared to lots of death metal. // 10
Lyrics and Singing: This time they decided to ditch the standard death metal lyrics and focus on something important to them: politics. Everything is covered here, from greedy corporations to the questioning of religion and terrorism, it's all here, and it's a nice change from standard death metal lyrics. Also to be noted, their 2 singers offer a great variety from incredibly low growls to a raspy yell. // 10
Impression: Compared to most death metal, Dying Fetus has much more in terms of personality, originality, and complexity. Not a single song on the CD fails to impress, and more often then not you'll find part of a song stuck in your head. Listening to this CD just gives you an adrenaline rush that most metal these days is lacking. Standout tracks include "Praise The Lord (Opium of the Masses)", "Pissing In The Mainstream", "Destroy The Opposition", and "Epidemic Of Hate". I would re-buy this CD immediately if someone stole it, that is, if I could find a copy. They're not very easy to find in stores. // 10
