Sound: Faraquet's sound was a very unique blend of indie, hardcore, post-punk, emo, and jazz. This creates a spaced out feel without becoming boring or overly repetitive. A good way to describe it would be a less boring Tool without the metallic sounds. All the sounds on this album are very well produced without being overproduced or too glossy. The guitar sound is very cool, basically clean with just a slight touch of distortion, and it suits the music perfectly. The bass does exactly what it needs to; when it works to have a prominent bassline, it's there, and vice versa. The drums are really what make this record. This guy has more of an influence on the sound than any other drummer I've ever heard. Overall the use of interesting time signatures and other musical complexities without becoming boring works perfectly. // 10
Lyrics and Singing: The lyrics on this album work with the music. They contribute to the "out there" feel of the album. The only problem is that they can be very vague and strange at times, but this just goes with the feel of the whole record. Some of them are also a little "emo" but I really don't give a shit about that. The singer is dead on with every note, and his voice changes with the music; he can be agressive when he needs to, but he can also sound very light and soft when he has to. // 9
Impression: This is a truly great album. It's really unique, and no one has come close to this sound. It's one of those records that you can listen to all the way through easily, because every song is awesome. The songs that stood out the most were "Cut Self Not", "The View From This Tower", and "Carefully Planned", but all the songs are very good. If this album were stolen or lost, I would absolutely buy it again. Basically: get it now! // 10
