Sound: The sound is better than on Flipper's previous albums (think "Sad But True"). Krist Novoselic's distorted, midrange-heavy bass perfectly compliments Ted Falconi's out-of-tune, even more heavily distorted guitar to create the thick, sludgy mess that is Flipper's signature. Due to Novoselic's bass tone, the bass and the guitar have more of an equal role than past incarnations of the band. The sound is uniquely Flipper without sounding like a attempted rehash of the band circa Will Shatter or John Dougerty. Musically, all of the songs measure up to Flipper's previous studio efforts. Flipper is as heavy as ever. // 10

Lyrics: The lyrics are vintage Flipper. Simple at times ("Be Good, Child!", "Only One Answer"), smart at other times ("Live Real", "Triple Mass"), and at all times angry. Bruce Loose, his voice made extremely raspy by years of singing and smoking, gives amazing performances on this album. His strongest vocals are on "Love Fight". I would put his singing on this album up against the singing he did for any other Flipper album. // 8

Overall Impression: This is a great album. If it were lost/stolen I would replace it the same day I found out it was missing. The weakest song is "Be Good, Child!". The strongest songs are "Live Real", "Love Fight", "Night Falls", and "Old Graves". The latter, "Old Graves", is the heaviest song on the album. // 9
