Besides perfectly offsetting the inevitable doses of melodic passages and alternating clean/screamed vocals typical of God Forbid and their metalcore generation, they help lend a timelessness to Constitution of Treason that any album should aspire to.

Sound: This is probably God Forbid's best album yet. God Forbid forges the gritting, teeth-baring bile of American death metal together with the melodic overtones of the so-called "New Wave Of Swedish Death Metal" promulgated by bands like In Flames, Arch Enemy, and the late, lamented, and legendary At The Gates. Starting on track one you hear an acoustic intro with slight explosions in the background fading away leading up to the ditorted riff that really gets you pumped up. You can always tell the CD's outcome from the first song and GF hits it right off. The sound is heavy with a touch of a more metalcore atmosphere, you can also hear a influence of a little British metal in the riffs and solo. If you like hard hitting riffs and drums that can kick your ass this is your CD. // 9
Lyrics and Singing: I also have noticed a little more melody in the lyrics in this album, maybe influenced by Killswitch Engage, but the lyrics are meaningfull and well written. Vocalist Byron does an excellent job singing the ear bleeding lyrics with a deep and commanding voice, with ease and precision. // 10
Impression: This is definetly a different sound in heavy metal today, you can automatically recongize there sound from other bands. The solos are great and technical. I love the apocalyptic atmosphere of the album, and general tone of the album. This is a definite buy, go get this album. And if you do check out "The Lonely Dead," Chains Of Humanity" and "The End Of The World." If stolen I would go get another copy 'cause this album is worth the $13.00. // 10

Sound: I don't know where the guy writing the other review got off calling these guys death metal-they're metalcore, straight and simple. And what great metalcore it is! Constitution Of Treason is a fantastic album. I can't decide whether this or Gone Forever is their best release, but you can't go wrong either way. This album, in particular, has a change in Byron Davis' vocals, and seems more melodic. The guitar solos are fantastic, as they have always been. // 10
Lyrics and Singing: Byron Davis' new vocals are more pronounced and less throaty, adn they sound fantastic. The lyrics, as always, are amazing. Look at "Crucify Your Beliefs" for a perfect example-"Your ultimate sacrifice is your ultimate sin." Byron Davis' skills as a singer/screamer and a lyricist, in my humble opinion, are unparalled in the metalcore genre. // 10
Impression: Constitution Of Treason only compares to Gone Forever, as they are both the greatest metalcore albums I own. I listen to Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Shadows Fall, and Lamb Of God, and both of my God Forbid albums destroy them. Chains Of Humanity, To The Fallen Hero, Crucify Your Beliefs, and the title track are sure to please the fans. If stolen, I would buy it again in a heartbeat. // 10

Dude, God Forbid is Death Metal, they are also Thrash metal. Alot of the metalcore bands sound the same an God Forbid doesn't sound anything like them, but God forbid and Shadows Fall are both Death Metal, and Alot of the Metalcore bands suck. POSTED: 09/28/2006 - 04:01 pm / quote|

: I'm not really a big fan of God Forbid, I just hate the singer, and no I'm not being racist or anything. God Forbid found the singer and the pick the singer randomly on the street. God Forbid is more Thrash Metal and semi-Metalcore with Gothenburg Metal touch. The only thing making God Forbid Metalcore and the is that awful singer and the way they band use breakdowns and shit. True most Metalcore blow. And Shadows Fall and Lamb Of God are American Death Metal and Thrash Metal bands, and they are pure ****ing Metal. POSTED: 01/23/2007 - 10:23 am / quote|

What? God Forbid aren't even close to death metal. There's nothing death metal about them.
They're metalcore. They may not sound like your typcal metalcore band, but they're metalcore. Listen to a Cannibal Corpse or Deicide album, and tell me how God Forbid even come close to that kind of sound. POSTED: 08/29/2007 - 11:14 am / quote|

: God Forbid are NOT metalcore or death metal, they are Gothenburg influenced thrash metal. Listen to Gone Forever or Determination and tell me how that can be metalcore. POSTED: 01/20/2008 - 02:21 pm / quote|

dude shadows fall is NOT death! where are the growls, the outrageous tempo, tg“he songs of death and gore? and don't even start calling them melo death, 'cause they aren't nearly good enough musicians to pull off that kind of music POSTED: 03/09/2008 - 05:35 am / quote|
