Sound: 'Kill Your Own’ is another addition to Hundred Reasons ever growing discography. 'Kill Your Own’ is an 11 track album, built up on great guitar riffs, powerful vocals and lyrics that mix sarcastic comments with pure emotional rock. Although the album only posses two tracks, which really stand out in my mind, the rest were of good quality, but in some cases tracks sounded like previous tracks and they didn’t possess the spirit that tracks 'Kill Your Own’ and 'Feed The Fire’ had. Due to the success of their previous albums, 'Kill Your Own' has a lot to live up to. But can it do this? // 7
Lyrics and Singing: The album has got some very emotional lyrics. Mainly the song structures include some mentions of love, hate and mistakes and generally the choruses had very little to do with the verses, this made each song a strange experience to listen to, but perhaps this is what makes the album stand out to the previous ones. Vocalist, Colin Doran, has pure talent; his voice has a tone that could be adored by any rock music lover. // 5
Impression: Overall, 'Kill Your Own’ may not quite meet the expectations it had prior to its release; it certainly leaves (one of the previous albums) 'Shatter Proof is Not a Challenge' in the dust, as it has more quality and a fuller sound behind each track which makes the album all that better when listening to it. The songs 'Kill Your Own' and 'Feed the Fire' are the foundations of this album, although it contains 11 tracks those two are the only ones that had real quality behind them and the others just sounded like previous material. This album does not quite meet up to the brilliance of 'Ideas Above Our Station'. But being a rock fan I do believe that this was a good album and was worth the buy, but it does get old fast because all the tracks sound very alike so don’t expect to be listening to this album in years to come. // 6
